Default Putting on weight

Right .. im a naturaly skinny 6ft 3 ish 10stone .. and never really hungry so always eating just bits throught hte day..

now im getting abit self consious with being skinny.. mainly the forearms.. can get my thumb and index round wrist with a nice gap dont want to go big just more formation to myself.

i have just bought some hand grip things to hopfully build the mussles up in the forearms hopfully get em built up (does that work or am i hoping for too much) and also a chin up bar to build up my top half.

i've read a few posts here should i be thinking of protein sp* drinks etc. to get the proccess going faster

mate wait til you hit your mid to late twenties you will pile on the pounds i put on more than 10 stone in about 3 years and wished i did something about it now even tho my job is fairly physically active and i do some occasional lifting

you need to speak to some of the other lads on the board who can give you some proper advice but dont just let the gut get bigger like i did otherwise you will have problems

Well to improve your forearms you need a barbell and do reverse grip (overhand) curls. Or the same with a dumbell in each hand. Start eating more and more if you can and it will expand yuor stomach making you hungry more often. You can take protein shakes and weight gainer shakes as well.

I bought myself a rowing machine, with a view that it will work out my upper body and my legs aswell....

I take a WeightGainer drink after each exersize and I should take it when I wake up and before I go to bed aswell, although I don't, only after workout..

I have noticed a slight improvement, even with only doing it for a week, but my problem is discipline, in that I have none...

If I stuck at it every night for a month, I reckon I could put on a fair bit, the good thing about being this skinny is that when your muscles do strart to grow, you can notice it straight away... Although after say a month, it may take longer to see the same results you did in say a week or two at the beginning...

The drink I have is called Dymatize Mega Gainer, which has Creatine in it, which is supposed to be the correct stuff for weight gain...

Good luck with it, I know how you feel as I'm really skinny aswell.. But as soon as I can get my arse in gear, I'll sort it out!

I don't eat much either by the way, been an incredibly fussy eater since I was a kid, and find it hard now, but stick with it and good luck...

Unless you are doing a lot of work in the first place protein drink will do nothing but add fat. Perhaps start doing a work out regime and see what kind of gain you get after a month or two (nothing happens overnight). I suspect with a good meal an hour or two after the gym (some white meat or lean fish like cod or tuna) you will be able to get good gains without resorting to additives and other such crap.

Another point that people who i know through rugby and so on believe is that you shouldn't just single out one muscle group, apparently you will get much better gain from working a variety of groups.

P.S. a really good way to build up forearms is to rest your elbows on something and do reps with a single bar. I have been doing this for bycepts and as a bi-product my forearms, have increased in size a lot.

Tigran.

(a total additives sceptic)
