Default JVC Headunit Resetting

Hey all im new to the forum so I hope I put this in the right section
I just bought a 1.25 Fiesta Zetec 2000 reg after some **** slammed into my Fabia. The Fiesta came with a tape deck, so I went and bought a JVC KD-R331. installed it correct to how the installation guide stated but I have a problem. The radio doesn't work when the ignition isn't on like the OEM radio did, also when I remove the face of the new radio for when im not in the car it will reset back to demo mode and forget all saved radio stations.

Can anyone advice on this, many thanks in advanced

James

It won't work without ignition on. To cure it resetting, what you need to do is take the unit out and swap around the red / yellow wires with each other. they should have bullet connectors so you can swap over easily.

There aren't any bullet connectors? From the radio there is a 16pin connector which came with it like this one 16 Pin Connector Then from that it connects to the ISO adapter which was needed like this ISO Adapter which then connects to the original wiring in the car.

So im completely puzzled now :/

Looks like it might have had a different lead fitted at some point then. Well all you need to do is cut the red and yellow wires and swap them round so red connects to yellow and yellow connects to red.

Has anyone else encountered this before I resolder the ISO adapter?

Right guys I have sorted the problem, after looking at the wiring again and finding a old ISO cable from my brothers head unit I tried that and had the same problem. I then connected it all back up and it works! Saves stations and setting when face and ignition are off. As I was slotting the head unit back with the ignition on it then kept cutting out and coming back on which made me look at the actual connections, and what do you know the ISO cables red wire when wobbled breaks the connect. So I removed it and added some heat shrink around it to bulk up the connection and re applied it meaning it now doesn't moved. now the connect is fine meaning the head unit works perfectly.
