fuel pumps
Theres a firm in the back of fast fords magazine that does all replacement pumps. Mine went and i was told that if it aint chipped keep the standard frst fuel pump. they come with a two year guarentee aswell.the firms called sytec. first though make sure u check that it aint the little black suppresor that has burnt out. alot of tuners just bypass it and the pump works fine with no risks. i bought a new pump, dropped the tank only to find it was the suppressor that was faulty.
another tip is rather than droppin the tank and all the other grief, just cut the hole under the rear bench, alot larger so u can just work from inside the car above the pump, i did it on a mates turbo and had the whole job done in under twenty mins .U just then mastic a larger 5mm thick square plate over the neat hole youve cut, drop the back seat down and happy days.

whats the tell tale sign of a pump on its way out?
mine takes a while to start but if i let go of the key before it starts then restart, it vertually starts first turn?
does this mean its struggling to get the fuel through on start up?

The supressor is part of the fuel pump unit. Its a radio signal supressor and is common for stopping the pump working. Ford will charge you a fortune for a new complete unit.
I had mine bypassed when it went and have had no problems since.

Thnx for your answer. Do you also know when this supressor normally spoken gives a signal? Because mine is getting fuel only not enough when I hit full throttle in 4th and 5th gear. If neccesary how do I bypass it?
