Ive recently bought another fiesta rst. 3rd one i have owned now. Its a 1991 on a J with a few Mods.

lsd
Paddle Clutch
T3 Turbo
etc

The car has been off the road for a year and im having a problem sorting this last problem out.

The car runs perfectly apart form hitting boost cut in 3rd gear onwards and i have to restart the car in order to reset the ecu.

The car came with a 165( i think) power chip in the glovebox that has been fitted to the car at some point, as you can see the tape on ecu where it had been held in.

If i fit the chip the car runs really badly. It will not rev and misses very badly and will not boost at all.

Is it known for these chips to go bad as all i thought all they did was allow the boost cut to be set at a higher psi and have no affect on any other system.

 

I had this problem with a 195 chip, i tried cleaning it , re installing it several times, had no joy!. In the end I picked up a Ahmed bahjoo chip and that sorted it right out!.

 

I took the cover off the chip and it was full of corrosion. Took me about an hour to fully clean it but all working now
