xr2i rs turbo suspension
just a quick one to ask for some technical help with regards to my fiesta, i have bought an xr2i which i am in process of completely rebuilding into a turbo'd car, even bought christian majors escort engine, so planning on a real weapon, but i have been looking a various suspension options and on burton powers website it lists xr2i suspension kits and rs turbo suspension kits, does that mean they are different or what because i thought they were the same in terms of fitment? cheers.

i think the difference between the two on standard type suspension is the rs turbo springs will be lower. as standard the rs in a inch lower than the 2i.
if your going all out with the car id fit coilovers. then you either have mk3 or mk3.5 fiesta depending on age. ( if your fuel filler cap is the small type then mk3...if its the flap type its mk3.5 )

i did think the rs maybe was lower with firmer shocks, but all this doesnt explain why burtons list a different suspension kit for either car with a different part number??? not sure whether all the kits are the same??? as far as im concerned the hubs are the same and the chassis is the same so therefore the suspension must bolt up the same but didnt want to order a kit if it dont fit. its a mk3 not 3.5 as its a h reg xr2i. just want to know why they think there is the need for different kits?

it will be the ride height and maybe stiffer but both are interchangeable . + burtons have probably been listing the kits since the cars were new and no one knew any different

the frame geometry is the same on both cars just the suspension is a bit lower and harder with thicker anti roll bars.
The RS came with optional heated front screen and ABS too not sure about the XR.

so if i was to purchase an rs turbo suspension kit from burtons for my xr2i it WILL fit? it just had me wondering as they listed 2 seperate part numbers for the kits and the rs turbo one is in fact £30 cheaper??? lol. i just wanted to be sure.

No there are differences, quite a few.
The bottom of the dampers on the mk3 taper down to a thinner diameter where they fit into the hub and the mk3:5 dampers have the same thickness all the way down into the hub (meaning that the hubs are diffrent aswell).
Also the mk3.5 has a bigger wheel bearing (same as a mk4/5) than the mk3, but thats irrelevant to you anyway.
Bottom lines is, if its a mk3 xr2i then mk3 rs stuff will fit.
