As above, any one own a 1.6SI or had one in the past, what are they like, are they reliable, any common problems with them.
And are they a 16v engine, zetec?
Cheers for any replies

A 1.6 fiesta would have difficulty keeping with a nova SRi

I got an 1.6 Si, M reg, 47k miles from new and it's immaculate, nothing wrong mechanically at all, it's pretty rapid for group 8 and they look wicked, do you really want a shitter of a nova gte which has been totally thrashed? wel happy with it, as written above you get good and bad ones

I am sure what to do, cus you normally think newer cars, less trouble, but heard a few comments about them not being too reliable.
Ain't sure

i own a 1.6si and although they only have 90bhp they are very underrated. novas will fall to bits past 40mph!!!! cheap insurance and an engine gearbox match that will take a lot of bashing even over 95K like mine i can rev it to 6000rpm at standstill drop the clutch and the car takes off!!!!!! the best mod for them is a conversion to 2.0litre.

depends what car u have now, if you got a 1.2 then goin 2 a 1.6si then yes, it will be quick.
but against other 1.6's they are slow. and they have really really wank fuel economy

I had an Si for a year or so, was a billiant little car, not massivley fast, but quick enuff, had a S/S system with cat by-pass (worth doing), K&N Pannel filter, and a chip and that could keep up with my mates Nova GTE.
I never had a day of trouble with it.

Everyone is missing the arguement. They are slow for a 1.6!
I had one, they aren't slow cars, but compared with a saxo vts/pug 106gti they are gutless.
My old fiesta is now a 2ltr zetec and I still beat it in my saxo vts.

But that wasn't the original post the questions were :
What are they like ?
Are they reliable ?
Any common problems with them ?
And are they a 16v engine, zetec?
