ABS removal and mk5 master cylinder/servo
I'm planning to upgrade most of my braking system on my FRST in one go.
I want to remove the ABS and fit a non ABS mk5 master cylinder and servo and fit ST150 brake calipers and discs.
I've been researching this as much as I can but it seems the info is scattered all over the place with varying info.
So I'm going to tell you what I plan to do and what I'm theorising, so any pointers you can give would be superb.
Changing the actual brake calipers and discs I'm cool with.
ABS removal:- remove mechanical parts from the gearbox/drive shafts. As I am doing the Mk5 servo/master cylinder as well remove the original servo and master cylinder.. now this is where I want to make sure I am getting the plumbing right..
Having never had ABS on a Fiesta before I can see the differences being apart from all the mechanical bits, the two big heavy rear brake pressure reducing valves have been replaced for a couple of T-pieces on the left hand inner wing and I'm assuming this lot of crap on/above the rear beam pictured below is the load laden pressure reducing valve set up it has instead (nicked the pic not mine)
As I'm using a non ABS mk5 master cylinder it has four outputs unlike the two outputs I have already, so I can't use the T-pieces on the inner wing.
My theory was to plumb the front brakes as per normal using new pipes from the master cylinder to the front brakes. For the rears I was going to use the two small reducing valves that came with the Mk5 Master cylinder I have pictured here (in another nicked picture)
then remove the rear laden reducing valves and bypass them direct to the rear drums.
Do you think this would be ok? Also when plumbing these in do I have to take into consideration which output on the master cylinder goes to which brake as I seem to remember something about Fiesta's having the crossed circuit braking setup or something?
As for fitting the mk5 servo, I understand I remove the old servo from its brackets and attach the mk5 one to the old brackets by elongating the bolt holes and I will need to cut and shut the connecting rod by 20mm and extend the vacum hose. Is this all that’s needed to be done? Is definitely 20mm exactly that needs to be removed from the rod?

My car just uses the inline reduction valves on the master cylinders same as the bottom pic. (originally a 1994 Si non abs)
I was intendind to remove these and but a bias valve in for use with a bigger front calipers eventually.

by pass the valve on the rear, and that will be fine.
your need new brake lines up front, unless you ad to them to get them back as they should.
yes the fiesta has the cross braking system.
i wouldnt use the little vlauves on the mk5 cyclinder though, get some pre set valves off a non abs frst as seen in the pic below.
as for the connecting rod on the servo, i cant remember off hand if it need to be made longer or shortend

the bay is covered in over spray that came up from under the car now so not focking happy as i gotta try and sort it out now and the paint is starting the flake off the gearbox for some reason its not even been driven, still, thats for a different post mate, but yeah, she looked good before the fucking over spray and that
i wouldnt go concourse anyway though mate, far too much hassle, a cars made for driving

shame i got black over spray my front bumper from not covering it when i was painting in the garage. i just buffed it with white spirit for near an hour and got it all off

I researched the little inline reducing valves that came with my mk5 master cylinder and they have purple rings on them and this identified them to be finis 7117274 and after cross referencing them on microcat these are the standard reducing valves for Fiesta 95- Ford Escort 95- Ka 97- Puma 97-2001 and Focus 98- so I'm now happy to use them as I did have a doubt. Makes for a nice install and they are much much lighter then the original mk3 non abs versions

the rod needs shortening by 20mm and also the 2 bottom holes in the fiesta brackets need opening up slightly so that the escort servo bolts to it.
have done loads of them for different people, they work really well!
never tried to use the servo mounted pressure reducers, thats handy knowing they were universal across a number of models, will make plumbing in the braided lines easier.
