as said above. the more work its had done for an m.o.t the less things that are likely to go wrong now
as for welding, with these cars you will never know what they are like till you hack away at them. it wasnt till i started wire grinding my underside that loads of seam sealer started flying off that the previous owner had spread over patches of rust
a solid week of welding later and i now have a rust free fez

that looks sweet mate
i really realy really wanna go 2 town on her and get her all nice and shiny and running proper power
BUT if i do,then i have to sell my mk1 astra to fund,as i cant justify 2 projects for restoration
the rs is meant 2 be a daily runner thats reliable, and the mk1 is my weekend car with a nice 220bhp v6 in it

well,i found a few things out 2day
the cause of water in my floorpans, there are holes in the inner arch panel on bothsides, both filled with SILICONE MASTIC
i checked my fan works, which it does, but have no power from the loom,so need to rectify that
tried the rad, cant see any cracks or anything-but the cores are fucked from twatting the actuator and t3
the poss cause for blowing the other day.........i thought id check the stat see if that worked in cold/hot water etc
took off the housing and passed to my mate to hold, whilst i put the nuts back in place
he was looking @ the housing with a confused look on his face
turns out...........THERE WAS NO FUCKING STAT IN THERE @ ALL
SO,im off 2 see mr ford 2morro for a new stat and gasket set
anyone know the finis code????
also noticed the downpipe from the 90 elbow off the t3 has been fookin bodged ,so im on the lookout now for a new downpipe

if you fit a escort one you will have to move the standard intercooler forward,so the rad can pass behind it ...the standard cooler bolts to the side of the rad so you will need to fix it to something else...i have a brand new, still in the box airtec rad for a s2 ....cost Ł200...yours for Ł150+ postage...

Sorry I beg to differ
I think you will find they are all the same
But certain White ones seem rather immune to it

ive fitted the s2 rad, which was A FOOKIN PAIN IN THE ARSE,also fitted the new airtec double capacity intercooler, i just need to get some brackets welded on the front slam panel to give me space between the actuator and the rad
also need to cut recess in bumper to allow good fit with new cooler.
ill get pics of current state tomorrow
lifted the carpet to see how bad, a bit worse than originally expected but still do able
looks like ill be replacing the matrix, but need to get under the dash first to check where the leaks are, also need to get rid of the air lock, and get the temp guage workin again(dont think the crimps made properly) if not, need a new temp sender
all stuff im buying bar the cooler, rad and matrix are all genuine ford and im sick of seeing that place already

Believe me mate, time you have finished buying all the bits from Ford
you will know all the blokes who work down there by their first names
