4x4 discs and pads on the Fiesta 2wd on the Escort. Standard discs will work just fine but if you must fit fancy discs go for grooved only as drilled discs tend to crack round the holes.

Not YET cracked you are not using it hard enough!!
The drilled discs on me other halfs astra 1.4auto have cracked around the holes, three years ago and still work perfect, they do turn BLUE occasionally though, with screech marks on discs(streaks), though this does no harm.
I have had normal discs crack as well as drilled and/or grooved.

you let your other half drive round in a 1.4 astera and the brakes turn blue occasionally ? they are fucked and should be changed asap,as for not using mine hard enough! they get used as hard as they need to

They only turn blue when I am driving, having spoken to someone who knows more about brakes then myself(and you) BART tells me this streaking is normal and not to worry, as EBC tech ed.
Not my fault that manufacturers fit such crap brakes to cars, the worst offender for this IMO is ford, they should supply all cars with emergency anchors.
