RS1600i inlet differences over XR3i MFi
Anyone know what the differences in the Rs1600i inlet plenum over the XR3i MFi
I know what externally but were the internals opened up slighty?
they also have the 4 bolt throttle housing same as early XR3i's
I'm thinkig of uprating my MFi Xr3i racecar engine wise and want to keep the standard MFi set up if possible
or it will be Jenvey time
Cheers!

That's just because the RS1600i was developed for LHD vehicles. Brake servo sits a lot lower so for the XR3i it must have been altered to run the induction hose behind the servo.
A friend of mine (with a master degree in automotive engineering and several years of engine development and motorsport experience) told me it's better for engine response (because of the 2.8i throttle body) and for low rev torque.

No it won't. 3i has a triangular shape, RS1600i a rectangular. MK3 XR3i ones came with an adaptor to make a rectangular tb fit. MK4 XR3is had triangular tbs. And after all... the standard RS1600i tb is as big as the 2.8i one.
