Hi,
Recently bought a 2002 escort van, trouble is the steering lock gets stuck on, and I am unable to turn the key. Previous owner had a way of unlocking it but I cannot do it for the life of me.
I have ordered a new ignition tumbler/barrell, but I cannot find any info on how to remove the old one.
I know on most vehicles there is a release pin but I cannot find it, any help on how to do this or remove the steering lock totally, I would be very greatful

you need to insert ket and turn one click, under the barrel theres a hole you press and the barrel and key slide out

 

Thanks for the reply, I do understand what you mean except my key is struggling to turn to first postion as the steering lock is stuck on and I can't seem to find the hole to press either, it's an escort van 2002 thankyou
