Im new here, and my english can be bad, so i apologise for mistakes
I have Ford Escort 1996 cabrio and i take engine from 1992 Escort 1.8 16v xr3 and replace it or swap. And now i have a problem with main computer, becaue with original engine 1.6 16v i have saftey ignition code, and now i run engine from XR3 on same computer. Can eanybody help me, if its possible to remove ignition code, or must i swap all electric wirring ?

it should still work but may not run very good, I would swap the ECU to one which suits your engine as its a very simple job to do

 

i did that, wont start. Ecu from 1.6 has ignition code, ecu from XR3 not. I try to remove ignition code from 1.6 ant putt it in XR3 ecu, butt there are diference in ecu, wont fitt. And yes, with 1.6 ecu run, butt not like its suposed to.
I find out, that maybe with chiptuning can i solve this problem.Whell i hope so, because i really dont wanna replacing all main wiering

hmmm.. I didnt think about that
il will try, butt in my state, for my car, i have werry poor choice, not many XR3 or 1.8 exist. I try find ecu on Ebay, like i have done for most parts

I don`t see why the ecu does not fit ?? , it is not easy to help 2000 miles away
1.8 mondeo is 1.8 16v engine too , and 2.0 litre mondeo will increase possible match
did xr3 have key chip ??

 

xr3 dont have key chip. Ecu from xr3 fitt perfectly, butt inside of ecu its not the same
