Is there a market ?

Yes there is a market for these here is a link who currenty do them but i cant justify payin nearly £300 for some bottom arms when you can buy patten ones for as little as £15.

yes i reckon you could get a lot of interest in these are they are the RS2k's achillies heel.

but as said you would be competing against the area six ones, i would have a set off you and i reckon a few would of rs2000-16v.com.... if you can do them at a realistic price, like your others you do, ie £150

 

Price wouldnt be an issue as it is what we are geared up to do.

def a market, its not just rs2k lads that needs these they're a major design flaw on any mk5/mk6 escort which is further highlighted when you lowered your car by inside tyrewear. So yes Rs2000-16v.com but also head over to the likes of escortevolution etc if you can produce them at a good price they'll sell.

 

So whats the problem with them ?

No point me registering on other sites yet until I know if there is a market.

Most sites get a sniff of a trader approaching and get upset which is understandable.

 

Well i have had two sets off adjustable lower arms in my Rs2000 Turbo.

Ones similar to the area six ones and some zoo motorsport ones. And what a difference they make.

I had to put standard ones back on for a couple of weeks while waiting for the Zoo motorsport ones to come, and could not stop the car wheel spinning in first and second. Even with a quaife diff.

In my opinion well worth the money!

no not my site mate but we are a god bunch of lads so a trader who wants to help us out is more than welcome these are a bad point on our cars many use royal mail van arms but there not easy to get hold of so these would be ideal if the price is right

I have just sent a few sets down into the machine shop for production.

Still about a week away yet but they will be fully adjustable for camber as that seemed to be the main requirement.

It's the rear bush that's the main problem.. Camber adjustment is only useful to boy racer who want to drop their car on the deck and then cry about tyre wear

 

Rear bushes are being changed for high load bearings, I took that as standard in a modified arm pa_sjo with the next mod being camber adjustment. That needs to be done without just elongating the original holes and sliding the ball joint out.

We wouldn't do it like that in motorsport so wouldnt expect it on a road arm.

ive just popped over from the rs2000 site, and yes there is a big gap in the market and you will sell loads if the are reasonable priced. id deffinately buy a set as i kill genuine ford arms every 6-8mths

So what sort of price will you be doing these for then, cause I could deffo do with some... my RS at 40mm is killing my front tyres and before anything is said that car was that low when i bought it.. Im looking at getting full new gaz shocks in the new year..and only want abouts 20-30mm drop but will have the benifit of the adjustable suspension for a few track days in the summer...

Camber yes but caster is a little more awkward and would need to be built in

good work mate, am after some new ones for the 16i in the new year when I get some cash together, and I'm sure ive seen some adjustable rears to allow rear camber to be adjusted, also plan on gaz coilovers

right, the problem with the lower arms is there is too much flex in the bushes.
i looked into making tubular ones but they cannot match the std ones for twisting forces.
the answer is the spherical rose joints tacked in place.
these made an instant improvement with torque steer and general cornering with no noticable harshness added.
my advice is std arms + seam welded for extra strength + rose joints + elongated holes for the ball joint to pull the wheels in slightly.
there would be a market for a brace bar to go from arm to arm using the front arm mounting bolts.
thats area that needs bracing.
also a useful tip: mk5's have 0 degrees castor which causes them to wander in a straight line.
the mk6's have a few degrees added by having different front turret tops.
the mk5's can use spherical top mounts to sit the shocks back as far as possible.

A group buy is already being discussed with someone for the Fiesta arms thanks They are at the powder coaters at the minute, being re coated after the seam welding.

Mk3 ones can be done on an individual basis as and when required yes, as like you say they are similar.
