fuk ever find out the cause? thats got serously hot
the engine was completely fucked was doing about 50 mph when it just slowed down no miss just no power then went lumpy and stalled, when the head was off that had a crack and the bore was smeared with melted piston but there was no advanced warning at all nothing. mind you it had done 130,000 so i broke it up. when checked we were told that a partly block injector let it get so hot and that was it no bang nothing couldnt believe it never mind

i had the same problem a few months ago. it turned out to be the wires that go to the coil packs. the had small breaks in the wires. the proplem being that the wires are part of the engine loom and can be difficult to find a replacement unless you get one custom made for around Ł300. i took mine apart and managed to repair the dodgey bits which was a task on its own
problem solved - after starting fresh, doing all the basic checks i done another compression test - showed 40psi no. 1, done wet test which didnt change a thing - wipped off head, found a burnt out valve caused by overfueling. fit new valves - sorted
