Default engine detailer?

whats this stuff i've seen peole spraying over their engine at shows to make it look clean?

and how would i go about cleaning my engine bay?

obviously i'm after something which will do lots of work for the smallest outlay, like a polish type i can spray on it will clean all the plastic surfaces and rubber pipes etc but not a jetwash which could get into the electrics

cheers

The most popular product is aerospace 303,but thats only good if you have a lot if plastic covers.

On a old engine with no plastics maybe a engine bay laquer like swissvax motorshine would work okay on rubber hoses ect

To clean your bay you need some g101 or some kind of apc spray everyware agitate with a brush then rinse off with a hose pipe,if its bad you might need a stronger degreaser.

You can use a pressure washer at a distance its fine trust me i have done loads ( new cars that is) or just use a hose pipe to wash the apc off ,then use a cloth to dry or if you have a hair dryer use that to blow water out of the nooks and crannys
If you are worried get some cling film or tin foil and wrap it around the areas you dont want water getting in.

Yep wouldnt worry about it Dojj, I have also done PLENTY of new car engine bays and never had an issue....

My weapons of choice are;

Megs Super Degreaser with some APC mixed in
Jet wash
Aerospace 303

Let it soak in and dry off, you can leave the engine running etc if you like to speed up the process

Wipe off any excess

Jobs a goodun!
