Default Snow foam advice, please

Need a bit of advice please.

My wife bought me a snow foam lance and foam for christmas, but no instructions !

Is this the right foam (cherry foam) ?
What is the best dillution ?
How long should I leave it on before washing off ?

I had a practice on my Fez and my sons focus, but did not get very good results ! ended up using a sponge and bucket, should it have removed all the grime from the fiesta ?

Kev

I tend to leave mine on for around 15-20mins. not sure if its the right stuff as i use meguiars stuff. The foam is only a pre wash so it wont remove all dirt and still need to use bucket and sponge. I bought a pump that screws in place of the cap for mine and tend to use 2 pumps per fill and it works well.

Is that the one for a hose , or the pressure washer one ? I've got the one to use with a hose and it does ok but I still use it as a pre cleaner, then give it a wash with a wookie too.

Im pretty sure when my mrs uses her snow foam lance on the karchser that she puts the foam into it neat, I think the lance is meant to take care of the dilution not anything you do first.

I dont really know a lot about detailing though, so I might be wrong

I think using the foam neat would be expensive, but I think I diluted it too much on the fiesta, and washed it off too soon !

On the focus I used a stronger mix and it seemed to work better.

I only put about 1cm of megauires into the bottle and fill with water and the foam is good from it.

My friend does use same amount of ph neutral snow foam and it seems to stick to the car better.

Def dont need to use it neat.

Still need to use a sponge tho to wash the car.

You put a inch or two in the bottom and fill the rest with warm water,if you can use a hot tap to feed the pw you get a much thicker foam (you dont need to)
I have a two foam lances, one has snowfoam the other has a mild shampoo ,i foam with the snow foam let it dwell for 5 mins then rinse off, then i use the other lance and cover the car in shampoo (not as thick as foam tho) then i have a rinse bucket to rinse the mitt after a pass, then just pw off with water

I use cherry... I put 1" of cherry in the base of the bottle and fill with warm water...

This is how I use it... I rinse the car with jet wash then snow foam... Leave 5-10 mins then rinse off and snow foam again.. Wait 5 mins then take off.

The consistency of your foam looks spot on... Here mine.

Do you still wash the car with a bucket and sponge when it is very dirty, like the red Mazda ?

yup as mentioned above

1" of foam liquid (magnifoam best seller)
fill up with warm/hotwater.

They say the dilution should be 10:1 (100ml to a 1ltr bottle)

The idea of the foam is not to have it to thick... There needs to be movement like my pics...they was taken roughly 2mins after foaming... And it starts to lift and move the scum off the car... 2 mins in and you still cand see the colour of the rear light or plate...

Lol, I know mate, the mrs does our cars with her foam lance from time to time so Ive seen how it all works.

Fucking bunch of window licking idiots the lot of you if you ask me, could be busy getting more power instead of cleaning out the air vents with cotton buds etc.

The silly bird even detailed the Civic Vti I bought, inside and out, stupid thing was I only bought it to break!

I was taught how to detail when I got my Golf detailed and was told the following:

- Use a 1:10 dilution ratio with water being the greater constituent in the mix.
- Turn mixture adjuster on the lance all the way clockwise (or anti-clockwise, I can't remember what way exactly) until it can't turn any more. And then turn it the opposite direction by one full turn. This should ensure the best snowfoam / water mixture. Have a try and see what way the adjuster should be turned on your lance - it should be pretty obvious which way is correct.
- Spray onto car without any pressure washing beforehand. If you pressure wash a very dirty car, the high pressure water can score the paintwork by moving dirt particules along the paint.
- Leave to drip until no foam is left (circa 3-5mins). During this time go round all wiper blades and panel gaps with a soft detailing brush to rid them of any built up dirt.
- Rinse off with high pressure water.

This advice came from arguably the most respected detailers in the country

Hope this helps

Cheers

I have the same lance (bought from Ebay) and I am using quite an small low powered Kecher pressure washer with Magifoam. This works very well together and you only need 1-2" in the bottle with some hot/warm tap water mixed.

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU ENSURE THE INSIDE OF YOUR BOTTLE REMAINS BUBBLE FREE. A FEW CM OF BUBBLES IN THE BOTTLE IS OK AND WONT CAUSE YOU TOO MUCH ISSUE BUT IF YOU LET THE INSIDE OF THE BOTTLE BUBBLE UP YOU WILL ONLY GET A VERY THIN SPRAY OF FOAM. IT TOOK ME A WHOLE 5L OF MADIFOAM TO FIGURE THIS OUT! KEEP AN EYE OUT NEXT TIME AND IF YOU ARE NOT GETTING A NICE THICK FOAM OUTPUT THEN IT WILL BE BECAUSE YOUR BOTTLE IS FULL OF BUBBLES AND THE LANCE IS NOT ABLE TO DRAW IN ANY AIR TO MIX THE SOLUTION.

I tried mine out today with Magifoam, tbh think i needed it on a bit thicker but had 2 cars to do so set it to not so - thick first impressions are good though!
