I know what your saying with SRP but in my opinion and from experience...SRP used along side EGP is the best combination for red cars!
i detail cars week in week out and srp and egp dont even come close to correcting paint properly using real polishes like menzerna or 3m using a machine polisher.especially red cars. the depth and gloss to red cars by machine would make srp look like faded red.IME

Srp isn't that good, like jambo says, id dosnt get rid of the swirls, mine needs a good polish, it looks well but has swirl marks, srp just brings it up a bit for shows I go to so do use it now and again.

Whats best to use to remove swirls by hand?

And does anyone use caranubara (sp) wax by megs? It looks great on my escort in radiant red but don't last long, do I meed to give it a few coats!

removing swirls by hand is a tough job mate, really needs some working to get it to work, maybe try some dodo juice lime prime, has micro abrasives and can be applied by hand, but ideally a machine polisher would take less time and effort and far better results.

megs wax isnt very durable mate, try some dodo juice supernatural, can get a tester pot on clean your car for much cheapness

or even try some other testers ad see what works for you

really depends on your budget mate, theres loads of great waxes
autoglym HD
finishkare
r222
chemical guys 50/50
the list is endless

Cheers fella, my car seems to always have swirls, after a machine polish it's great but doesnt last as long as id thought?

Do you ink I'm washing or drying too vigorously?

I use a bucket with a gauze in bottom and a proper wash MIT rather than a sponge, then meguires towel?

I suppose keeping on top of it is key! I'll try one of them polishes

try using 2 buckets, one to wash and other to rinse the mitt.using one your basically washing it with the dirt youve removed
is it the the megs water magnet?,i stopped using mine as i thought it was marking the paint after washing, was loads of holograms on the paint after using it,try a microfibre one like this

http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/microf.../prod_634.html

or this

http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/washin.../prod_362.html

you might also want to wipe down the car after polishing to remove and polish residue which will mark the paint next time you wash, try some IPA or panel wipe or even some quick detailer like megs last touch

also use a quick detailer after washes,i use dodo juice red mist

I totally agree with JamboRS, SRP is not the best product to be using. I use Meguires, ultimate compound and some of their medium cut polishes, I also use G3 occasionally and gtechniq P1, I find these work well with a DA. Then I use pinnacle signature II as an LSP.

fiesta looks well, but imo auto glym has had its day, there are far superior polishes/waxes on the market, similar priced to auto glym

only auto glym product i use is bumper care,

Your Fiesta looks hard as nails Ben, really like that! Definitely what I want in a year or 2. What are those wheels?

I rate SRP as it's the first product I've used on my new Escort, no problems with swirls or anything. Would any of you recommend changing to something else? I'm prepared to pay slightly more than Autoglym prices as I'd like to keep her looking factory fresh!
I need a wax too!

Ben.

I posted these pictures on a similar thread a while back.

Hand washed with a mix of TFR and water, rinsed off, masked then mopped with G3, then top mopped it with a Nielsons Gold polish I always got on well with when valeting. Washed it off with the pressure washer again and finally hand polished it with SRP ( as thats all we had )

Results speak for themselves.

Good work jonny, nice car aswell,i would be putting a decent sealant on there and keep it topped up or it will be going back to pink in no time, srp will give a bit of protection but wont last long imo
