Underside Clean Up ( Updated 09.08.10 )
Having cleaned up the underside some 3 years ago, I decided it was time to try and freshen things up for this years Ford Fair Concours.
Starting at the back end last weekend, I'm hoping to get the floor pan and the engine done tomorrow. Only having a driveway and axle stands I'm hoping for good weather but we'll see.
Heres the work so far. I'm pleased so far but 2 parts are bugging me, the first is the exhasut system so I think I'll get a new one with some nice mirror polished backboxes to really shine. The second is the fuel tank cover. As great as it looks polished, the hours and knuckle scrapping involved is quite high, so I think a nice powder coat silver or black may help minimise the maintainence.
I'll post up some front end pics when I've finished this weekend for those who might be interested.

Did a bit more to the middle and front end this morning. I'm happy with most things but the blue powder coated wishbones will need to come off and get redone in black and the Ceramic coated headers are flaking with only a few months use.

I'm in the process of re-doing the underside to a better standard. having cleaned it up prior to the last show there were a few elements that I wasn't happy with so started stripping it down the day after I got back.
All the arches have been redone:
Front wishbones have been powdercoated black as the blue looked out of place:
Fuel tank has been powdercoated as polished aluminium was very time consuming and the shine was lost very quickly
The rear end has had new tubular arms added and adjustable drop links:
Engines areas been redone:
Just waiting for my Stainless y-pipe, hi flow cat and bespoke exhaust to arrive in the post.
Hopefully get it all fitted for the next show, but fingers crossed.

Just a final update :
All my effort seems to have paid off as I was fortunate enough to win my class at Fordfair. Extremely happy and for once all the people around me could relate to underside cleaning rather than giving me that weird look when I say I've cleaned the floorpan.
