Default Paint aluminium radiators

Any idea what kind of paint i can use for the original radiators on the saff? Eastwood has a radiator paint but only available in black and i want it in silver grey finish. I was told that the Bill Hirsch exhaust and manifold coating/paint may be good but i'm not to sure. I don't want to ruin the radiators heat efficiency either.

Cheers for that mate. I see that they have Eastwood products there too but unfortunately only with the black finish. I'm afraid that the engine paint will be too thick for the radiator?

Engine paint is fine. Remember it only needs to withstand about 150c and most paint can handle that.

Use a high heat paint that is flat black. Flat black paint radiates heat the best and oddly looks the best under the lights etc for a stock look like you are after. Black radiates heat in the infra-red spectrum better than other colors. Go for it.

i thought that black would get rid of the heat the best but if thats the case why are pretty much ALL aftermarket rads/intercooler/oil coolers etc silver or plain ali?
or does black keep the heat in the rad, or is it all pretty much the air flow that makes the difference?

Why is it that in the summer black cars are red hot to touch and white/silver is cool maybe the cooler colours do get rid of heat quicker?

if silver reflects the heat (back into the item) more than black then why dont they all come black or tell people to paint them?
this has been a thought that has crossed my mind for years but ive never tested the theory.

i know silver/bare ali looks better and all that but its the heat dispensing capabilities im thinking about.

really odd this black and white debate as i know 100% in the hot summer days (yea the 1 or 2 a year we get i know!) if im wearing black trainners then my feet get red hot if they are in the sun, if i wear white then they dont get hot at all, however look at the Arabs in the deserts which are proberly the hottest places on Earth and some wear white others wear black!! WTF is best? LOL

Silver reflects the heat so the item doesn’t absorb heat from an outside source (the sun in the case of a car) Black radiates heat that the item has absorbed so that is why it feels hot to the touch.

I think the reason the rads & coolers are left silver or plain Ali is to make it look nice, if you see original fitment stuff its generally black. The original RS500 coolers are black as are most IC i've come across.

Thats how I've always understood it.
