Engine paint is fine. Remember it only needs to withstand about 150c and most paint can handle that.

Use a high heat paint that is flat black. Flat black paint radiates heat the best and oddly looks the best under the lights etc for a stock look like you are after. Black radiates heat in the infra-red spectrum better than other colors. Go for it.
