Default Cleaning Plenum?

I've got the head off my cossie at the minute, and was thinking that it would be nice to get everything cleaned up and looking nice for when it all goes back together

What do people recommend for cleaning a plenum? I don't want a really highly polished chrome style finish, would prefer to keep the original texture but get it really clean.

I'm guessing the solution will be "Autosol and liberal amounts of elbow grease", so any tips for speeding things up would be much appreciated too!

Cheers!

Neil.

It actually looked OK Dicko, at least there were no obvious issues... I did briefly think about going down the rat/bonfire look route as per Ken's escort but decided to try and keep it clean

Jacko, that's what I was looking for What have you done to the fuel rail and throttle cable bracket? Take it that's Appo's lump - you've spent a fair bit of time on that by the looks!

Now then Jacko, seen that 3 door shell on pistonheads?, are you still after one? That 3 door sold btw, but might go look at another in glasgow if you fancy a trip up some time, although price too much at the garage imo but sort of tracked the owner down and think the garage is selling it on his behalf so should get price down with a bit of luck. http://www.jamesglen.co.uk/730/used-cars.htm

Spoke to owner today, dealing with him direct, he is emailing over pics and said there is movement on price thank god!, Garage will have big mark up imo, for their profit - sort of got impression he wont turn down good offer but we'll see.

Jacko, can you paint the manifold and exhaust housing if I bring it down? I've got no gear and doubt I could get a decent finish with a brush

Not yet - they've only got the Alumablast in litre tins. They've got the Manifold Grey in though.
