Default Light Scratches

I have just bought a second hand 53 plate merc in a metallic green colour, It shines fantastically but there is a problem.

On the passenger rear door, front wing and bootlid there are areas of light scratches. These are confined to patches of about 4 inches.

They look like someone has tried to scour marks off the car scratching the laquer underneath and making it go dull.

i am no quality polisher. All i have done is washed the car then tried to use T Cut on the areas nd then wax with zymol i bought from halfords.

Has made it slightly better but its still well noticeable in the right light.

Any help would be great as its a 10K car and is going to put people off looking at it.

If i have to get the panels or car detailed/machine polished then i will

Cheers guys

Rob

Depends how deep they are mate if there light they should machine out wiv a cutting compound, but if there cut thru the laquer you will end up burning thru it trying to machine them. Failing that it would need painting

they just look like someone has lightly rubbed with a scouring pad,

i renmoved a big one on the back wing last night by hand with cutting compound but the ones on the door are harder.

its because they are lower i think.

i have booked in to be mopped down the side next week so hopefully that will sort it

Mercedes paint is rock hard, so trying to remove deep scratches by hand will be futile - a rotary polisher and skilled hands will definitely be needed, plus a paint thickness gauge would be sensible, in order to check how much paint you have to work with. Bear in mind that deep scratches cannot always be polished out, as otherwise too much clearcoat would be removed.
