Mercedes paint is rock hard, so trying to remove deep scratches by hand will be futile - a rotary polisher and skilled hands will definitely be needed, plus a paint thickness gauge would be sensible, in order to check how much paint you have to work with. Bear in mind that deep scratches cannot always be polished out, as otherwise too much clearcoat would be removed.
