Default FRST bufty work part 1

Just thought id share some pics of what Im upto at the moment. There is a lot of time, and money being put into tubby lately with the decision being made to run in concours this year. I done some work about 3years ago however its time to get the rear discs, coilovers, 6 pots on and the whole lot blasted and coated.

this is tubbys usual postition for 10months of the year, however this time its been almost 2 years!

How many of these are stil around?

Looking rather dull........not good enough!!!

Atleast this lasted

Yes, I am sad enough to autosol my exhaust

Been well busy these few weeks, finally parts are starting to come back all lovely and powder coated, got cracking cleaning up the arches and heres a mid prog pic.

just needing a clearcoat ontop of that before i finish otherside and bolt the new H&Rs in place.

Started again last night, so here is a few more snaps, OSR arch almost compleate, just waiting for laquer to dry now.

Im hoping someone can clarify but it dosent matter which way I put the bush?

Started to fit up the mudflaps

bottom isnt square and it looked cock eyed to me, so try again.........

almost done now, coilover in, flap fitted

Right, break time, then back to the NSR arch!

Finally got my new brakes this morning after about 6 weeks. You know the wait was definately worth it.

Biggest that will go behind the 15s safely, must admit the finish is impeccable... A Very very happy Tubby!

another update.

Petrol tank.

taking the bias valve apart to blasting, looks well scabby!

1st day of the bank holiday and its ful steam ahead, got some more little bits back from powder coaters however they forgot to do my hubs!!!!

so that will mean the rear set up cannot get finished this weekend however 90% can be done.

Lifted up the front today and made a start on fitting coilovers and the brakes up front.

all be coming back off in the morning, prob with fitting which needs urgent attention.

knew it was too good to be true.

all the coilovers are on today, brakes wont fit due to the disc being a fraction too thick, exhaust is off for a polish so in the meantime i carried on painting the underside and coating the rear brake caliper/mounts.

Spoke to Tarox today and new set of calipers on order, cutting it very very fine with getting ready for next week.

update..........

after hours of messing around over the weekend, some...and i mean some work got done on making a handbrake bracket and fitting the mk5 handbrake lever...............

you would never recognise it from that pic above would u.

time to push the bearings back into the hubs and DISASTER STRIKES!!!!

time to invest in that press i been promising myself.

In the meantime, after lots of I got the fuel filler back in and put the beam back into position.

got there in the end...............nearly trial fit for handbrake cable which is a real pain to sort!!!!

disc fitted, pads in, caliper fixed in..........still no f*&^*(& handbrake though........but it looks better.
