Rah!

I just got a new one;

Dell Optiplex GX270 (tower, not the small form one)

Chip : Intel Pentium 4
Processor Speed : 2.8GHz
RAM : 1.5GB 400MHz DDR SDRAM
HDD : (1) 60GB 7,200rpm (2) 80GB 7,200rpm (both IDE)
Drives : Floppy ( ) and a DVD-ROM (need to get a new DVD+/- RW drive)
Monitor : Dell E153FP 15" TFT
Graffix : Intergrated Intel865 Chipset video
Sound : Trust 514DX 5.1 digital/optical PCI soundcard (sweeeeeeeeet)

Thats about all I know about it Just bought it as ex-office PC for Ł200 off ebay tho

Whilst it is a bit boring looking outside, the inside case is pukka tho! (not my pics, but of same PC)

Loving the quick release drives and clam-type case (no screws anywhere lol)

Reccomendations?

I have a PCI graphics card - nVidia Geforce MX-400 or something... All I know is it has a DVi plug and an S-Video output, and I think it is only 64mb or something...

Whats AGP

Budget wise - as little as possible Spent enough on this PC so far Just slung my DVD-RW drive in there tho so were all drive'd up Unless I decide to get an internal card reader to slot in the spare 3.5" bay, and use my USB card reader as a protable device for work and stuff..... Dunno if you can get a fascia plate for internal card reader's on this Optiplex tho - only seen em on the Dimension 8250/8400 which has a different front to it...

The slots might be smaller, but the cards that go in them usually aren't......and yes, that is a full-size pint glass!

Just playing around with Nero and found I had a "Get System Info" thingy. So I did - found out my 2.8Ghz P4 chip has an 800MHz FSB (tho I don't know if it is 512k or 1mb cache)

I think thats good isn't it?

Yup......massive, aren't they!

Does the job nicely, though, 1600x1200 at full detail in the new Call of Duty 2 demo without a stutter!

19" flatscreen CRT, one of these...

I can't stand "blocky" big resolutions, it's bad enough having to run 1280x1024 in work!

Isn't everything abit small tho? I mean, that screen is only 18" viewable - I expected you must have some super monty 24" TFT or something.....

I have 1024x768 on my machine, but then a) I only have a 15" TFT, and b) for some reason thats as large as the PC will let me have

At ork I have a 19" TFT and run that at 1280x1024 and I find that a little small (as in the icons I mean, not the screen) tbh...

I really want one of these CLICK but obviously need a different gfx card to allow me to run in proper widescreen mode....

What I REALLY want tho is a duel DVI gfx card, and a 42"/50" plasma monitor with PIP so I can watch porn, err I mean TV and use PC at the same time

I'm kinda used to it by now, have always ramped the resolution up as high as it will go......although the combination of this graphics card & monitor will support up to 2048x1536. Now that is a bit hard on the eyes, so I stick with 1600x1200!

1920x1200? I've got that resolution running on my wide-screen laptop, and that's only got a 15.4" screen! Dell Latitude D800!
