PC Gamers advice please
Looking at buying a PC for gaming / general home use. Is this spec good enough for general gaming as I don't want to spend a car's worth of cash.
Intel core i5-650 quad core processor. 2mb cache, 1Tb HD, 3Gb RAM, nVIDIA GeForce GT430 1Gb graphics. I know it wont be the best but I dont necessarily want the best, it's for me and my lad to play games like rfactor, minecraft, sims etc ie ones that arent available for consoles. Sensible help appreciated please.

for Ł600 you can get alot better spec then the one above, but it depends if your limitied on where you have to buy from?

You don't mention a screen so I take it you have one? And is it half decent? No point spending 600 on a pc to play games if you hook it up to a crap/old screen. If you have a good one already it will save you alot and mean you have more to spend on the actual pc
Yeah unfortunately the catalogue's the best option. I know you pay over the odds but got no choice really. What's the minimum spec I can go for, for those kind of games? As said before I'm not too fussed about top quality graphics as long as they are playable. As long as I've got a good base, I can upgrade as and when required. For example there are cheaper ones and as long as they are good enough to run average games on then I'd be tempted to buy a cheaper one and then maybe buy a better graphics card at a later date. Is a Pentium E5700 dual core adequate?

Mmm go down a treat with my lad pmsl. Honestly, it's basically for my lad's Xmas and if I could save by then I'd be asking on a Ferrari forum lol.
The joys of three kids with an ex who has CSA on her favourites list hinder my cashflow. But my wife has that amount free and might as well get a new PC as my lad wants one and my laptops full of stuff (ahem).
