Battlefield 3
Well, 64 players sound's very nice indeed, might just have to get a new computer just for it! My poor old laptop just can't cut it anymore, used to be awesome but not any more.
Anyone got any recommendations for good performing computers on the market at the minute, preferably around £400-500
Ben.

They do some great rig's that are built to order so you can add/remove bits you want/don't need to help the price.
They also seem to be pretty cheap for what they offer.
Ahhh, fuck's sake. What spec of desktop machine am I gonna need to play this flat out?
I LOVED bf2 on pc and just looks like an amazing looking update of that format.
Wish I hadn't sold my alienware m15x now

Jusg had a look on that site you put up.. Wtf, some of these machines now have 24gb ram! Can they use this? Not sure if it's right but remember reading somewhere once that over 3gb is a waste?

If your using 32bit OS its pointless having so much RAM, you only get the full benefits when using 64bit OS

It's a lot more cheaper to buy parts and get someone to build it for you like a friend or small computer business as most pre built systems will never have a decent setup unless you want to spend more then £700-800
There are supposed to be new processors coming out next month so prices for things like the i5 2500k might drop which is always good too.
feel free to post up a spec in here of things you find or for information from other forum users to get a spec for the budget you posted

good luck
£700 is a bit much, I've still got wheels and a new engine to buy
I'm pretty much starting from scratch, mum has an Acer downstairs but It's nothing fancy, plus I've been after my own rig for a while, I can't really stretch over £550 to be honest, anyone fancy speccing one up on one of the websites above and linking it?

You are going to struggle for £550 as just a Graphic card capable of running BF3 around going to be in the £200+ region.
Then you'll need corresponding cpu, ram etc... and even a decent power supply as dx11 cards are pretty power hungry.
Even a prebuilt rig with an Nvidia 500 series card is going to be £600+

That's a pretty nifty site that. Was gonna upgrade with just mobo/ram/gpu for £792 but for a tad extra with another tower/monitor i may just do that and sell the case that comes with it and flog my old parts. Not sure if i want an ATI card in it though.
cheers for that
if you can dont bother with sata get one ssd drive will kick the arse out of sata raid and be a lot quicker
also a good pair of headphones and a sound card is a must forget speakers you wont hear whos sneaking up behind you

Sound cards are a waste of money. Onboard sound is more than capable these days.

+1, I would also add that I looked into SSD, they are around a £1 per gig. Just seems that quite a few folk are having some issues with 'em and RMA are higher on average than 'normal' drives.

Well just finished playing the pc beta after playing the xbox version earlier.
WOW, what a difference!!! one big flowing map instead of random little loading screen's between rush sections. Also surprised at how bad it actually looks on console. I thought there would have been some improvement on BFBC2's visuals, but there really isn't.
EDIT: just played the console version again at a mates, turns out what I thought were loading issues was horrible horrible lag! (my playstation hates the internet)

What GPU you using mate? And what res you running at?
I cant get my head around how this "origin" thing works.
Its almost as if BF3 is running in a web browser? Next to no loading time mind so nothing to complain about.

might as well bump this as it's not long to go now until release (28th)

Im pretty nifty in the tanks

P.s It's confirmed that the GAME in salisbury is doing a midnight release for BF3 so would be worth checking with your local stores to see if they are doing the same!"
