unfortunately talktalk are crap. not sure on your download speed, have you done a speed test?
a couple of people at work have it and its forever going tits up, can sometimes take days to come back on as well. why did you switch from sky? i am with sky and have never had a problem and its free.

Iv done alot of speed tests over the last few days & getting 4 to 6 meg at different times of the day which i was not getting with sky as claimed ,,,& my wed surfing is 10times better than sky!!!

I only changed cos i was haveing bills of £30+ a month , without the bt line rental which was £13 on top of that a month.

I now now pay £17.49 for every thing & unlimited local calls 24/7 which is fine for me.
I am very pleased with everything apart from the downloading being so slow!!!!!!

A 45min episode with sky would take 20/30mins to do ,it took over 3hr's!!!

|Is there anyway to make it a bit faster.

what was the 30 quid a month for from sky? broadband and phone or telly as well?
cos the broadband is free and the sky line rental is 11 quid a month.
not sure how to make your downloads faster. if your broadband speed is faster then everything should be faster shouldn't it?

Default Router

Have you tried changing the router back to the sky one?

Some torrent clients allow you to encrypt the torrents when downloading - you could also try this to test if talk talk do have p2p limiting software..

BTJunkie isn't too great, I'd realy reccomend uTorrent if you haven't tried it yet.

What kind of speeds are you getting and does it say your port is A-OK?

Haven't tried utorrent for downloads, my port is fine with the green light showing .
One min its less than 10kb/s then it goes up & down from 10kb/s to 60+kb/s in the matter of seconds, have had up to 140kb/s but does not stay there.

Its just taken over 5hrs to download 45mins of tv, this would have taken less than 30mins with sky.

Your downloading from public torrent sites expect slow speeds more often than not. Which bittorrent client are you using?

Not so hockney, most torrents I get are public, and 500-1000KBs is common.

4 to 6 meg is fucking awesome m8, I'm on Virgin 20mb line and I only get 2 meg a second download. Assuming you aren't a n00b to torrents you understand that the amount of people seeding affects the downloads you can get. if 1000 people are sharing it but they all have poor internet then it will take time to download. If the new router you have purchased is shit, then flog it to some muppet on e-bay and get a new one.
