I've had my XBOX 360 a year so far an no issues with the console but wouldn't mind too much if I did have to send it off as its been that good. 360 is best for gaming and online by far IMO, online its basically got all the msn like system built in.
Unless you want a Blu ray player I wouldn't bother with PS3 but then most people on this particular site do have Ps3 it seems.

360 - for it's ease of use, large list of decent games available, the achievements/gamer score system, online play, the market place with game additions/demos and videos.
and it's cheaper for price to spec ratio.
also the elite xbox's don't crash

and if you like first person shooter games like call of duty the ps3 controller is complete naff, xbox controller was designed with such games in mind and is far better to play with

I know fucking loads of people with both on this forum & they would say PS3.......Stoo for example
Xbox = ''Hardcore Gaming Geek's with small Penis's who like to play Halo 24/7!''
PS3 = Take a hint of PC/Laptop, Home Cinema, Entertainment & you come up with the PS3!

We've been through this before I think but I have PC's a laptop and Pioneer home cinema I just want to play games and online gaming. I think most people would agree 'if' the 360 was more reliable and had a blu ray player the argument wouldn't even exist!
Eagle, if you want it for gaming and online gaming (which brings games to life) then get a 360 but if you want a toaster or blu ray then get PS3. This comes from someone whos owned all sorts of consoles and LOVED Playstation and PS2. Both consoles have extra features but gaming is surely number priority when choosing a games consoles, no? Not saying PS3 is shit for games but its not as good.

and i know of four people not including me whove sold their ps3 and brought a 360 and never looked back
The PS3 was over Ł300 and the Xbox was Ł230 at the time i had them (about Sep 07)
It's all to your own but i'm really glad i kept the playstation... Now have over 60 Blu-rays and a 1080p telly and haven't looked back!
I had both, had the xbox first. I think the xbox is a better games console. For me the graphics are slightly better and possible it has a faster frames per seccond rate although couldn't be sure. However as an overal machine it does have to be the PS3. I find the playstation OS much easier to use and whilst the Xbox will do many of the PS3's features the PS3 does them much eaiser and better. The Playstation interface is also clearer and easier to understand.
I disagree with the controller comment. The PS3 controller is just as accurate as the Xbox and fit's your hand perfectly. I can use the Xbox controller but if both where an option on either console i would use the PS3 regardless what console it was on. I think most Xbox owners, if being honest, would agree. A controller is also an important part of a console and it needs to be comfortable. The PS3 wins here.
The PS3 is also a much more swankier looking machine, it looks at home in my front room and has also replaced my DVD player. Also PS3 (as you well know) supports Blu-ray play back.
Both playstation and xbox's networks leave alot to be desired. For real online play the way forward is PC. I think both providers online gaming facilities could be better the only difference here is that Xbox make you pay a yearly subscription to use it. PS3 jsut plug and play. Xbox also needs an additional (maybe not on elite would have to check) wireless addaptor to run a wireless connection.
I had to change my xbox because of the dreaded red rings earlier this year. The unit was perhaps 8 months although to be fair had been left on overnight countless times when i fell asleep after watching a movie or playing a game. I had difficulty replacing the unit which again is not a direct fault of Microsoft has a got the xbox free with a phone contract and couldn't provide the nessacery proof required. The PS3 is now approaching 6/7 months old and gets the same treatment if not worse as i play it alot more and (touchs head) has been faultless. It doesn't mind being transported about (the xbox sometimes gave red rings when being unplugged and started up for the first time)
My girly prefers the PS3 mainly due to the controller but also because she has all her old games like Crash Bandicot (or whatever is name is) destruction darby etc which can all be downloaded from the playstation store for peanuts. They can be downloaded in the background while you play another game. Also if you have a PSP i believe you can somehow remotely access your PS3 and stream files to it however i don't have a PSP so have never done this, sounds cool tho.
Overal i want to play the playstation more, i prefer the controller, it has blu ray play back, my girly gets on with it better, most of the lads on here have one, and it looks better. The Xbox is probably the better games console but a bit like the Playstations ugly sister with odd sized boobs.
i wouldn't have replaced the xbox had it not gone wrong BUT I'm glad i've got a PS3 and would reccomend one over the xbox.

theres no issues that i am aware of with the 360 now i think the releases have ironed out most the probs.
for gaming and online experience the 360 wins hands down
if you want to play similar games and watch films then the ps3
overall the 360 wins ecspecially with the price they are now!

very hard decision ... have spent more time reading ... i do like the ps controller not trierd an xbox one tbh .. might be time to go and visit a few shops with demo's
The complete opposite happened to me. I got both and decided after 2 weeks of playing both to take the Xbox back.... I just couldn't get on with the Xbox controller and having to play Ł40 a year for XboxLive to play online!
The PS3 was over Ł300 and the Xbox was Ł230 at the time i had them (about Sep 07)
It's all to your own but i'm really glad i kept the playstation... Now have over 60 Blu-rays and a 1080p telly and haven't looked back!

Your post mentions the controller, membership price, console price and blu rays but nothing about gaming. This seems to be the case with most post I read from PS3 owners.
My years online membership is due soon and having a look I can get one for Ł25 which for how good it has been and how much I played COD4 and FIFA is a bargain, even at Ł40.
I could easy wright a 1000 word esay why the PS3 is better than Xbox!.......but ve done it a billion times before on here so i can not be assed!
PS3 has 10x's the features Xbox has!
The PS3 is far more powerful than the Xbox.....its just Sony aren't using all its performance yet!
you'd have to be a mug to pick a Xbox these days over a PS3!

I can't be pissed getting in to a debate about what's best again. But I was SUCH a big Xbox fanboy, now I never use my Elite and I'm on my PS3 most nights. That's got to say something.

Would the 1000 words mention the gaming as much as the above did?^
PS3 doesn't come close to the 360 or Xbox live and you know it that's why you keep mentioning this other shit that I and most people don't want or already have, when buying a games console. Is PS3 better a better Blu ray player than a Pioneer? NO
Is it better home cinema than my Pioneer? No
Is it better online than my PC's with linux/windows or my laptop? No
Is it better at streaming or music than my media pc or network? No.
Is it better overall at games and online gaming than my 360? No chance.
Is it better a sucking me off than my mrs? Debatable.

1 game. ROFL. Face it mate the Playstation and Ps2 were great in the past but Bill gates has it in the bag with the Xbox 360. I'd love the Jap variant to be better than a Yank games console I really would but its not. It'd be silly to think how good the next XBOX would be.
1 Game? you seriously aint got a clue.....bless!
GT5 was just an example!
& i think you should change it too ''Face it mate Xbox might of been good back in the day but the PS3 is far better!

sidewayz your clueless mate you really are, take your sony blinkers off and actually look at them properly.
yes the 360 has had its faults however as i have already stated these have now been rectified.
its not Ł40 for xbox live membership as i got mine for Ł20 and some1 above has stated they got theirs for Ł25.
GT5 pro logue is shit forza 2 even though its alot older is a way better game (this is coming from some1 who lived on the original gran tourismo's so i am not biased towards the 360.
the ps3 is a glorified (sp) media centre that plays games quite well.
its certainly not more powerful than the 360.
i've compare games on BOTH consoles (same game) and sometimes it looks better on the ps3 and sometimes better on the 360 normally to do with darkness.

PS3 gets my vote
the xbox might be cheaper but look at all the hidden costs i.e wireless reciever, docking station to charge controllers and the already mention the online membership wether it be 10p or Ł20 they still want you to pay for it every year
and the PS3 can do alot more than the xbox FACT and if i had penny for the amount of people who i know who have sold thier xbox to get a PS3 and never looked back i would be 24p richer lol i dont know any one who has gone the other way.

I thought i gave an unbais comparason of both units, i would agree that the xbox is marginally better with games. To put it another way if it was a 0-60 test the xbox would be 4.3secs the playstation 4.4secs, and as we all know theres much more to a cars overal experience than 0-60. It's in these other areas that the PS3 excels over the xbox.
I think it's unfair to state that the ps3 is a media centre with a gaming facility thrown in as an after thought. It may not be just a dedicated gaming device, it is this and more.
It's up to you which one you want to go for, if it twas me i'd go PS3.
Lee can you play cod online with the psp assuming your in a wifi area?
We've been through this before I think but I have PC's a laptop and Pioneer home cinema I just want to play games and online gaming. I think most people would agree 'if' the 360 was more reliable and had a blu ray player the argument wouldn't even exist!
Eagle, if you want it for gaming and online gaming (which brings games to life) then get a 360 but if you want a toaster or blu ray then get PS3. This comes from someone whos owned all sorts of consoles and LOVED Playstation and PS2. Both consoles have extra features but gaming is surely number priority when choosing a games consoles, no? The 360 has much more games choice, there is no problems with the xbox 360 these days it was just pretty much all the early machines..You can play divx files on the xbox also, whenever i walk in to any games shop there is always much more choice on the xbox, well it has been out longer...The car games are better on the xbox, there is more fps on the xbox,do i need to say more really??Before anyone complains i own the ps2 and love the sony consoles because i dont really care much for microsoft. But i could no longer resist buying the 360,the only reason i would like to buy a ps3 at the moment is for metal gear solid 4,the rest of the games are either on the 360 or just dont interest me.
360 all the way then!!!!

I was a big playstation fan and had the PS1 and 2. Played my mates PS3 and it was good but there were no games i really wanted at the time so got a 360 instead as it had loads of games that appealed to me, like Forza 2, Halo 3, Gears of war.
The way i see it is if your a hardcore gamer the 360 wins hands down. If you dont play games much and want something that plays bluray, can surf the web and looks flash then PS3 is the one to get.
