I have both.

The 360 is LOUD, more likely to have disc read failures, menu and layout is abit all over the place IMO, but the controller is very nice. Too bad it's not wireless.
EXPENSIVE to upgrade HDMI/HDD

The PS3 I use for everything. Watch DVD's, listen to music, play games.
It's quiet, pretty, very easy to use. Wireless controller works a charm.
Uses 2,5" HDD that is sensationally easy to upgrade, and it doesn't even breach your warranty.

In my mind the PS3 is superior in every way.

Only reason I still have the 360 is Forza 2.

ok ps3 is looking positive as for the hard drive option ... i only really play a few games ... so that might be the downfall lol... just built a good pc to play online tbh ..

the only thing is the price of the ps3 .. not really dropped much like the 360 has, the ps3 is really not anywhere near running at full capacity as no one has sorted out the games yet ..

if youve got a decent spec pc for online gaming and your not arsed about using the console online then the ps3 probably is the one to go for tbh

New dashboard on 360 looks ace as I've posted in the COD topic. Almost like a new console and fit for the best games console that it is.

 

just do what any normal person does and goes out and buys the one he wants... not listens to a load of fanboys on a car forum (no offence anyone)..

end of the day, PS3 owners will say, PS3... Xbox owners will also say PS3 they just couldn't afford one

What you paid £500 recently for your PS3? Didn't think so. When I got my 360 you couldn't get anywhere near 4 for £500. Compare the correct times mate! Face it, it's a cheapo all in one device that doesn't do anything well as the proper equipment, like PC, pioneer and 360. People into films don't have a PS3 to play them, people into internet/web don't use a PS3 and people into gaming (as posted by that guy regarding gamebattles.com) don't use it, they use PC or 360. Have a look on callof duty.com, the new world at war game 360 section has nearly FIVE TIMES as many posts as the PS3 one. I realise its a losing battle on here as more people have PS3 but the world, certainly internet world is a lot bigger than just mighty old passion ford.

As for this Blu ray/HD shit I don't think you understand despite me telling you a thousand times, I have all the other gear and simply bought it to play games. I don't play music, view pictures, stream or anything else with it and as a games console it pisses all over the PS3. You now this and its why you NEVER talk about games/gaming experience on it. Look back through all the posts all you see is "its got this, it does that".

Next time I need a new washing machine I might go out and buy a microwave and hope it washes my clothes as well, at least I'll be able cook bakes beans also and no Hot point can do that!

 

i think the xbox is more of a games machine where the ps3 is an all rounder .. still stuck in the midle though ... am off out at some stage this weekend to give em both a try ..

Why not buy both and have a week or so on each... I know it sounds expensive but at the end of the day it's your opinion and cash that counts

 

yeah ... looking at an elite with 3 games .. keep the 2 boys happy then i can get my own ones .. but still like the controls of the ps3 ...

go for the ps3,the xbox looks shit lol, if you cant afford a separate blueray player get the ps3, if you want to record tv you can also buy something for the ps3 now i believe which lets you do this,plus free online gaming, loads of other shit,but as said if you just want to play games i think the xbox will do its cheaper and more games

£260 for the 80 gig does seem good value and if the games selection and online was as good as the 360 I'd get one, plus Microsoft seem to get the extra content on the games which are all format, like earlier maps on COD and the GTA4 new packs are coming on 360 download soon where you take over a new character with extra missions.

When I had a PS2 the online was terrible and I think that's why the 360 has the upper hand because they were already proper on it with the original xbox. Plus everyone uses MSN messenger on their PC's just about so they have expertise in that department. Out of all the features of both being able to have people from PC's chat with you via messenger while you're gaming is very handy and one I actually need. Saves you running back to the PC if family or friends want something.

 

This thread has got me to thinking its time i powered up COD 5 on my PS3.

I'm on 360 number 3!! No problems with this one so far


My first 360 had a cooling problem, which was replaced...

...the second one was fine, but I got rid of it when the PS3 was released purely because it had the blu-ray drive.

It's a great all rounder (even though it looks a bit like a George Foreman grille ) and the blu-ray player is obviously a massive plus point!


However, I rarely used it to play games (GTA was about it) and it was used mostly to play blu-ray movies.

Once the stand alone blu-ray players were down to reasonable price, I decided to get rid of the PS3 for a 360 elite and get stand alone player for blu-rays

I've not looked back since! There just seems to be better choice of games on the 360 (Gears of War 2 and Fable 2 recently, not available on the PS3)

I'd forgot how good it was online too!

In my opinion, the 360 is better for pure gaming!

 

cant be bothered with a massive reply but I had an xbox for a grand total of 2 weeks before i sold it. I've had my ps3 for 6 months or so now and have no intentions of selling it. I prefer playstation controllers over xbox ones. Only reason i would have an xbox is to play online with my mates who have them as about half have ps3's and half have xbox's. Otherwise i'll take the ps3 everytime.

i have to day i am tempted with a 360 as im a gadget boy amd prices have come way down but i ask myself does it offer anything i dont already have.....nope!
