The complete opposite happened to me. I got both and decided after 2 weeks of playing both to take the Xbox back.... I just couldn't get on with the Xbox controller and having to play £40 a year for XboxLive to play online!
The PS3 was over £300 and the Xbox was £230 at the time i had them (about Sep 07)
It's all to your own but i'm really glad i kept the playstation... Now have over 60 Blu-rays and a 1080p telly and haven't looked back!
Your post mentions the controller, membership price, console price and blu rays but nothing about gaming. This seems to be the case with most post I read from PS3 owners.
My years online membership is due soon and having a look I can get one for £25 which for how good it has been and how much I played COD4 and FIFA is a bargain, even at £40.
