Connecting computer to hi-fi help?
I'm looking at connecting my computer to my hi-fi or cd player what ever you want to call it. But i'm unsure off what leads I should be looking at buying. Think it'l b phono for cd end but unsure of what to plug into onto the computer?

I think its a 3.5 jack to phono lead, its the size used on a ipod etc... (from the computer, well on my mac it is anyhow, they are all standard sizes as far as I'm aware)
The other end of it splits into two leads and you plug these into the phono ports on the back of the amp (normally white and red).
It will play through the aux setting on the hifi.
I got mine from Maplin they were only a couple of quid.

A cable the same as this...
3.5mm jack plug to 2X phono
Plug the 3.5mm jack into the green socket (audio out) on the back of you pc and the phono plugs into the auxillary input of your stereo.

PassionFord Post Whore!!
That's what I use to connect mine to my surround sound when I want more noise I bought it in a cable pack from Asda ages ago. It was only about a tenner for a load of cables.

Of which, there's still none that won't out perform a mid range audio component (ie, amplifier, hifi) so still won't benefit it. In fact, since the DAC in a mid range audio processor (amp, hifi etc) will be better than even a high end soundcard, you're best off getting a sub £20 digital soundcard and connecting via optical, bypassing all soundcard DAC's and passing the complete bitstream to the external audioprocessor, letting that DAC handle the audio
