whats the board like to work with?(installing heatsink etc) it obviously clocks really well from your scores but are the bios easy to use and set up/flash? alot of boards have trouble with large gpu cards covering sata ports any with this? (if i remmeber correctly this one has 8?)
also i've read theres issues with the rev1.1, it not recognising floppy drives etc.

would you recomend it?

So far, everything ive seen of it makes it BETTER than any other board ive used. The fan connectors, are, shock horror, near the location of its relevant FAN...

No sockets are compromised, maybe the ram is bloody close to a big CPU heatsink, but its hardly a chore IMO, especially as its a rare change anyway.

The BIOS is a joy to use, VERY self explanatory and allows changing of all frequencys and multipliers as well as voltage for core, ram, PCI-E and the northbridge.

EXCELLENT piece of kit IMO. As for installation. Take a look at this picture to decide for yourself.

That 8800GT certainly doesnt get in the way of anything else at all.

as for me its between this board and the asus, but there just seems to many issues with the asus, (fussy with ram etc) did yours come with a small fan to fit over the northbridge heatsink?

whats the onboard sound like?
theres 3 pci-e x1 slots right? does the gpu card cover the other 2 or is that just the angle of the pic?

lookin like a winner to me so far.

you had a chance to checked out battelfield 2 yet?

Computers arent my forte. Give me an engine to build any day.

Out of interest though, obviously you people on here know a bit about them, are you self taught, went to uni, taught elsewhere? Its something I would like to know more about but have no idea where to start. I dont have time to do courses etc but are there any sites or something I could use in my spare time to progress with my learning. I dont want to be a programmer or anything but just have a little more insight on how they work, how to fiddle with them and the like.

No, but they seem to think this heat pipe makes a difference. Im not convinced personally as i think it brings heat across from the power regulators and fooking pipes it all into the northbridge!!... it sure gets fooking hot!

Got my Live Fatality XFi in there so havent tried it, but it talks teh talk on paper.

Just for you, ive taken pictures on a better angle to explain further... From what i can see, if i wanted to SLI (which i was considering) i would lose the PCI slots.

Had it pretty much since launch and cant gel with it.

stu battle field games takes at least 1 week to learn the controls, then add another 2-3weeks playing to grasp the actual concept of what your aim is and how best to go about it.
And also some time to learn how not to get killed every 20 seconds trust me once you pick it up you dont die half as much

ah thanks stu, i was actually talking about the pci-e 1x slots (little black ones) as i have a wireless card and sound card to go in them so i'll need two of the 3 and once covered by ur gpu card i see from the pics u took.

unfortunatly that chipset is just no good for sli or crossfire,(sli's useless at the moment anyway!) the 2nd pci-e slot only runs in 4x mode in dual mode so ur graphic band width would only be 8x instead of 16x, if you wanted to upgrade to a dual gpu set up u'll have to get an x38 chipset as they have dual 2.0 pci-e slots with will allow true dual 16x bandwidth, although as mentioned above sli boards are useless for clocking not to mention the sli drivers are very unstable, which is why ur likely to find most boards support crossfire (ati cards only)

although if you wanted to run a 2nd graphics card on its own (for say an extra 2 screens) i'm told that that board is more then caperble.

ps:just ask eagle about getting on with bf2 hahahaha!

i quite like the look of frontlines warefare.

Stu - looking at your pics, if you added a 2nd card in SLI then it looks like it will block some / all of the SATA ports, (if you can even fit another card in that is as it looks like it will hit the IDE slot / port)

I've got exactly the same problem if i put a card in the bottom of the 2 PCI slots (x16), although mines worse as i have a double height card.

Really good looking well specced PC with a few nice trick bits

I've just run the 3D mark on mine (same version as you ran) and mine came out at 11350, which i reckons about right bearing in mind mine is not overclocked at all.

Im going to sort another fan for my case, and then try overclocking a bit, im hoping to see results similar to your's, I'll let you know how i get on

like most things it starts with a general interest and goes from there, you can go on a course and it all go completly over your head. as there so many terms/figures to get ur head round. i'd start with the basics, what each componant is and what it does, then go from there.
anything you get stuck with either google it or wiki, or post it up here and i'm sure someone will be happy to answer.

What kinda temps is it running at now (both CPU and graphics card) ?

What temps are safe for the cpu / graphics card?

My mates 8800 GT is running up to 90 degree's during gaming, and its not over clocked at all.

90 sounds abit hot to me but im not sure what temps these 8800GTs can run at.
You can buy after market graphics card coolers anyway if need be

By the time your bored and wanting more power there will be a single card that beats 2 of the currant best cards in sli

What games have you been playing? id recommend (even though its old now but still has stunning graphics) Far cry, crysis, Half life 2, Call of duty 4, Test drive unlimited

A good site for downloading the newest demo's is this http://www.gamershell.com/demo_download_archive.html
Look at the top for the newest demo's and latest additions, have fun

Asus comes with its own monitoring software..but if your pc is not OC'ed then you should not have temp issues. Try re seating the cpu cooler with good quality paste.

ok cool - google cpu temp monitor theses a few out there.
Other thing i would try is maybe another cooler in case the base is not completely true..again this is on the assumption your pc has cpu temp issues.

sounds like spyware, you need to run a full system sweep with a decent anti virus/spyware remover.

get yourself a copy of spysweeper, that should sort you out.
