Norton Antivirus prob?

Norton Antivirus prob?
Using NAV 2003.
Its been fine for about a year. Use it on 5 computers all on a broadband network hub. Just this last week or so, its taken about 20 secs to open Word, or an Excel file. At the bottom it says "requesting virus scan". I've fiddled with Norton, then removed it completely, which fixes the problem. Also, it only happens when the computer is connected to the broadband hub (presumably the net)
Is this a Norton fault? Or is there a fault on my hub somewhere?
