Ram
no you need to know what type of ddr ram it is, for example mine is called pc3200.
Go onto crucial.com website and do a system scan, you need to download a tiny file and then click on this file and the scan will start, it will tell you exactly what type of ram you have and how many slots you have/dont have free
anyway the actual stick of ram should have a little sticker on it with all the info you need

1gb of RAM will make a fair bit of difference over 256mb that is for sure!
My PC runs 1.5gb of RAM, but I took two of the 512mb sticks out to test in a mates PC, and whilst he had em I ran the PC on only 512mb - there was a considerable difference!!!!!
