Got a tower today goodish spec & that but plugged it all in pressed the fire button & nothing happens, it all works but my moniter doesnt come back on. When i turn it on myself says missing signal so then i clocked on & swoped my g-card & afew bits from my current comp & still nothing im thinking its the P4 chip?

What do you's think? thanks for help

Possible CPU / Motherboard failure. Any beeps when it switches on ? Everything inserted fine, nothing lose ?

 

Just opened it up hour ago & unplug it all then plugged everythink back in still nothing, no beeps or anythink, everythink seems it be working (harddrive, disk drives... )

Its a advent 3480A P4

One thing i did spot tho there is a little red light between the CPU & ram on the motherboard that is just on & the harddrive light on the front of tower doesnt flash what so ever

Im trying to see allday if any of my mates can lend me there P4 for 5mins so i could try but no luck there

 

No beep's generally means CPU failure. I wouldn't put another chip in there yourself as it may blow it. Dare I ask where you bought it from ?

 

ooh i aint yet, my bother got it off his boss just said stop working when he turned it on lastweek doing exactly what its doing now, i thought it was the CPU now dont know what to do

 

Trouble with diagnosing this, is it's either the cpu or the board. The board could of shorted, and may of killed the cpu. So you could put a perfectly good working cpu on a fucked motherbaord, switch it on, and poof. 2 Dead cpu's. IMO, the only real way to solve this is new board and cpu. And prey the memory's still ok.
