i asked for the easiest way of connecting and got told linksys wrt54gs and use a linksys wusb54gs on the other unit ,well they duely turned up and set up on the pc's.
i am totally fooked off .. have spent over 6 hours trying to get them to talk together..
the router has now decided not to talk to the main pc ..
i have run the setup discs etc etc searched their website .. used the onestep secure connect system .. and it still is sat there ..
well against the wall now as thy went for a flying lesson when i got severly pissed off .
now i might try again .. any ideas please as i am not in the best of minds about these items .. snotty email has been sent to linksys about it ... if i try and fail again they will be redesigned as the flatest router available
the hammer is sat there ready...
I take it this is to share broadnand internet?
If Cable and xp;
First of reset the router using the button on the back of it and unplug your cable modem and leave a few minutes before plugging back up. Plug in your modem to the router and then install the wireless card on the pc. Start internet explorer and type 192.168.0.1 into the router (this may be differnet but will state in manual) You can then see the various
Make sure obtain an ip locally is selected:

Make sure local dhcp is enabled:

FOr now leave all security off. Close internet explorer and then go start...run... type "cmd" into run box... when black window appears type"ipconfig/all" and it should display an ip address of probably 192.168.0.2 or simalar, if it says 0.0.0.0 or anything 169.x.x.x then you wont connect.

Basically, plug cable modem into router. RJ45 cable from port 1 onto network port on motherboard. Test internet.
Laptop,
Install drivers, plug in usb adapter, search for wireless networks, once found, connect to it. It's as easy as that. 10 Min job.
The only bit that takes time is setting up WEP security.

had it working on the main pc .. tried to get the usb thing to connect and it just hangs there...
ok .. will have another try tomorrow ...see if the pc finds the router...
