Mercedes SL500 AMG
Not quite sure why I’m doing this but I am regrettably putting my SL500 up for sale. I may have a job opportunity soon to move to New York permanently and obviously cannot take her with me!! I’ve owned it for over a year now which for me is a record! (usually only keep them for not even 6 months!). I love it to pieces, it has been reliable, fairly cheap to run and turns heads like you wouldn’t believe!!
Spec is as follows:
December 2002 / 52 plate – Private plate INCLUDED in sale!
Obsidian black with 2 month old metallic matt grey vinyl wrap
Charcoal heated and electric memory leather interior
Telephone link (Nokia included)
Sat Nav
Keyless entry (actually works – use is all the time!)
Bi-Xenon headlights
Bose sound system
TV
Aux input for iPod
6 disc CD Changer
Dual climate aircon (freezing cold)
Electric fold in mirrors
Aluminium vinyl wrapped interior (black wood underneath)
LED sides and number plate lights
Genuine Wind Deflector included
78000 miles
Parking sensors all round
Full Mercedes Main Dealer Service (Mobilo breakdown cover still usable!)
Factory fitted full AMG bodykit fitted
Later spec front grill (imported from the US)
AMG height adjustable suspension (3 height setting)
Lowering links on car (easily removable and fully adjustable - sensible height but can go lower)
Genuine AMG Alloy wheels (few curb marks but do not need refurbing)
All tyres have decent tread
SL63 AMG boot lip spoiler (non-gen, purchased in America)
Black tailgate badges
Recent front brake discs and pads
4 decent tyres
Dreaded ABC suspension pump already replaced a couple of years ago so no probs there! (common as hell on these and not cheap to replace)
Rear shocks replaced a couple of years back
The car is in beautiful condition, few stone chips etc but no parking dings or dents, rust etc... The grey wrap looks stunning and has been wrapped professionally using proper 3M 1080 vinyl.
I haven’t had any real probs with it, only one being the usual flappy hood things which I replaced the parts with new gen/merc items, and one of the cogs sheering in the motor that controls them. Again had a new one made. Been perfect ever since. Engine has been sound, doesn’t burn oil, starts every time, roof doesn’t leak etc.... gutted it’s got to go!! Petrol averages around the 23mpg mark although I have had it up to 32mpg driving back from Le Mans. Town driving it drops to about 18mpg for short runs.
Not sure how to value the car as the market is all over the place, i’ll start at £13995 and see what happens.
Few recent pics!
Not up for any part ex’s until the job thing is sorted out
Thanks
Chris
