Default Nice Series 1 Escort for sale

Due to recent purchase of Cos 3 door and owning ST24 every day driver, my Series 1 is reluctantly up for sale. Spec as follows.
1985(C)reg custom, usual custom extras ie: sunroof and opening rear quarter lights. 10 months MOT but on SORN for winter. Low compression 1600 engine fully rebuilt by G S Motorsports for previous owner. Koni adjustable shocks all round.BK Racing 17 inch black chrome alloys, fully painted underside. Mongoose ss exhaust.60 trim turbo,.48 exhaust housing.fuel mod,(like 5th injector. K&N panel filter, gearbox overhauled, AP Racing clutch. ST 170 discs and caliphers to front. Powerflex anti -rollbar bushes. Goodyear Eagles all round. Interior very tidy, body work very good. This car owed the previous owner in excess of £15k.
The engine is said to be producing circa230 bhp@1 bar(or 15 PSIof boost).
This really is one of the better S1s around, and I have only had to do minor odds and ends in my 18 month (1000 mile) ownership. I am looking for £4950. Genuine enquiries only as I have no time for tyrekicking timewasters. Please contact me with any further queries. The car is in the Portsmouth area and I am a Hampshire RSOC member.

Hi, I think it is to do with the blue pipe connected to the charge manifold, shown in engine bay picture.

Nice S1, as said, would look well on a set of standard wheels as those my be a bit to blingy for some, standard look seems to be the favorite look on the S1 at the moment.

Get yourself onto www.seriesoneturbo.co.uk and see if there is a cheap set for sale, plus stick your car on there for free!!

You are probably right, I dont think standard wheels would fit over ST170 stoppers. I think reverting back to standard brakes would be a backward step, but take your point about standard wheels. The next owner would need to decide on what he or she would want.

never thought of that mate, I stripped wilwood superlite 4 pots and monster discs off mine and slung on a new S2 set up on it, but power was only about 170bhp.

Price looks fair, bad time of year to sell, so don't be too disheartened at a lack of people viewing, will be spring before the market picks back up imo.

just time of year and this recession talk scaring people mate. I sold mine for 5k in a week and could have seen it go 5 times over and it was about the same as this, that was about 3 months ago, just got in before the scare started.

beauty of the S1 now is that it costs on average £200 a year!!!! fully comp to insure on a classic policy, still able to do 5k miles a year, cheap as chips!!

Hi mate, thank you for your kind words. I have been called an OLD boy racer recently, and was sort of pleased. I still drive faster than many people of my age, but I dont tear the guts out of my cars. I took my oldest son, who is in his mid forties, for a ride in the 3 door and scareed the s--- out of him. He is a Beemer owner and thought his car was quick. I have now retired , so I dont want to destroy any of my cars or my bike. I now have the time to look after them as they all deserve. Regards John.

Thanks mate, a lot of you out there know this car and are probably as keen as me to see it go to another good home. I am getting on a bit now, and resisted getting involved with Cosworths, but it was something I just had to do. One outstanding ambition is to own a V8 engined car. I have loved the magic of V8s since I was around 20 years old. My daughters boyfriend has a 5 litre TVR Chimeara. It wouldnt catch the Cossie, but has a sort of magic about it. Who knows, plenty out there. Regards John.
