Following long deliberation and five years of ownership, I am offering my daily
Driver for grabs – or even to exchange.
The car is something I searched long and hard for and is something rather special. At this time, I ask myself should the car leave me for new ownership, would I be able to replace it? Probably not! However, as the best car I have ever owned and only a want for a change as the reason for sale, if it goes, it goes. If not…..happy days anyway
This is a genuine Vauxhall Vectra GSI (phase 2) 2.5 V6 24V quad cam, finished in metallic silver.

Whilst these cars always came into life as SRI’s, all GSI’s were born following ‘fettling’ from Motorsport Developments which gave them their distinguishing features.
However, my car underwent further improvements as the/a press car used for Vauxhall during their launch of this model. There is a MSD authenticating plaque on the slam panel indicating the build number and the letter ‘P’ signifying its special order or press build.
The standard spec is as follows:
2.5 V6 24V quad cam engine (198 bhp standard)
Stainless GSI exhaust system
Uprated GSI spec suspension with ride height drop
MSD/Irmscher front bumper, side skirts and rear spoiler
Recaro Interior
Titanium finish steering wheel and gear nob
However, as this was a press release/special build vehicle, the following additions were included from factory:
Profile/development cams, ECU re-map and head rework
Recaro interior sent back to factory to be finished in full raven leather
Sat Nav installed and built into centre console
Re designed/configured driver display unit
On board Diagnostics
Upgraded Vauxhall head unit with mobile phone function (insert your sim card)
Upgraded audio with Bose pre amp and speakers
Tinted windows
Performance wise, its had a straight through stainless system (retaining the GSI back box) since factory, together with cold air induction and the common EGR modification. Rolling road print outs with all mods suggested approx 215 bhp as a result. However, I don’t utilise this performance as a daily drive - its extremely drivable, and returns 34 mpg on a mixed run tank of fuel. I recently organised a stag to Newcastle and went five up, plus luggage and returned 37 MPG !!!
I have a full service history (car is due back this week from its next service which I have done twice yearly). Mileage is only 94k. Timing belt was done approx 5k ago together with disks and pads.
The car drives superbly, no knocks, rattles or loss of oil/water and the induction combined with V6 sounds superb!
Body work is excellent - very straight minus a bubble or two of rust on the rear arches (known water trap) which due to my wax oiling every year, hasn’t deteriorated to the point of just cosmetic attention. The bonnet has a key approx 5-6 cm long and the obligatory stone chips on the bumper and bonnet (consistent with the motorway mileage). It has a ‘Steinmentz’ cosmetic pack including the grill and sill protectors.
I always park furthest away from ‘attention’ or other shoppers etc but still managed to get someone to scuff the rear bumper! Overall, nothing that cant be rectified at ease or just forgiven with the every day use of a car.
Car has a private registration reading ‘HIS VEC’, recently valued at £495.00 which subject to offers of sale outright or otherwise, will go with the car
Will leave me with interest with a 13 months MOT and a full Maguire’s treatment/wax. This is an impulse decision and so therefore probably missed a number of plus points. However, just did a search and confirmed how rare a GSI estate is – never mind a special build!
Please let me know if there are any questions.
£2995.00 or pt ex an RS/ WHY?

Hi Gaz,
Thanks for the comments - like I said was a decision to advertise only last night. Just fancy a change!
Nice to see the C2 plate still about - even though its not on the 4x4 lol. Saw your 2wd @ National day ... gorgeous. Good luck with that sale!

I spent months looking for mint one of them and never found one anything like that for the money. I would have ripped your arm off if I hadn't give up last month and bought an alfa estate instead.
Looks a cracking car, good luck with the sale.

Cheers Jemis - Wouldnt take much to make the car as you suggest, but as those who know me, im very critical of my cars. Been raining here all day today.... looks great with all the beads!
Travelled to the end of the country for this..... to date its been well worth it.
Think someones going to have to be quick before I change my mind... lol
