You're breaking major ebay rules advertising that as an rs500. if i bought it thinking it was an rs500 and found out it wasnt i'd be after your blood.

I've seen the car and been told the whole story and read the mag feature sounds like its a 500 just need to speak to tickford to get the number tag my mate bought one and the tag was missing he got one from tickford

Genuine RS500's didn't even come with a tag from Tickfords

Also, they came with both front fogs and grills.

Interesting comment there Martin. Did Eggenberger and Rouse and the like use actual RS500s to build their race cars - presumably not - are they then RS500s or replicas? (I think it's the same with the Rothmans Escorts -built from Ford Escort Populars!).

I'm not 100% sure on this but basicaly the Rs500 was homologated by ford to allow the 3dr touring cars to be more competitive, once the necessary road rs500's had been built it allowed the racing teams to convert their 3dr's to 500 spec. So as I understand the RS500 was only ever a road car, all the touring versions were in fact converted 3dr's

the only identifiable thing on the log book is the chassis range gg38600-gg39099

when i found my cossie was a ringer, i broke it but asked the dvla why the log book was changed by the very first owner from 1.8GLX to Sierra RS Cosworth, and was told by the DVLA they will change a log book to whatever you ask in effect, ( i double checked with that persons line manager as i didnt belive that, but its true) so it could say rs500 on the logbook if the owner asked the dvla, which in its self proves it s a rep but can be the only way that got on the logbook.

Mate if you did buy it thinking it was a genuine 500, do the best thing break it, recoup as much as you can and chalk it up to expierence and move on,

mate i take my hat of to you for breaking the car instead of selling it on top man was the car in ralle news a black saph with twin headlights ?.

all i am saying is when the ford sierra cosworth rs500 left the show room at first registration
it didnt say rs500 on the log book
it said ford sierra cosworth only and the only thing to identify it from a 3dr cosworth was it's unique chassis number witch ranged between GG38600-GG39099..

hi mate you seem to be taking a lot of shite over your car,not a 500 but still a very nice rep worth more than people are offering,just to clear a few things up.
1 500s do not have rs 500 on the log book
2 to get your build number you need your chassis number and your ybd number that was stamped under the cam pulleys by aston martin
3 they didnt come with the tickford plate
4 they come with both fogs and grills
dont break it reword your add,change the wheels and you should get decent money for it,nice car good luck.
