Default Escort Si problem help needed please

Hiya,

I'm after a little bit of advise please, jut driving back from Sheffield on M1 at weekend and had a near death experience that proper put wind up me..

I was doing about 80mph and started to over take, once overtaken I eased of accelartor and my car seemed to pull real bad to the right but only when I ease off accelorator, (like a gust of wind had pushed the car side ways)..this happens now everytime I am doing high speeds past 80mph or so, the tracking seems ok although it does pull to the right in a straight line a little (but it is only doing it at high speeds!!!?!?!)

Another thing to mention is my engine cover underneath the car came off the other week could that be causing the swaying problem (ie.. trapping wind underneath the car the releasing it making the car feel like it's floating??)

Just really scared me and I don't want to be putting other road users in danger if it does suddenly swerve while I'm not fully alert.

Any help would be greatly appricaiated please before the old garages start rubbing there hands at me..

Many thanks

Soft shocks will make the car very susceptable to being pushed around by sidewinds at speed, so do a bounce test on each corner.
Other than that check the brakes to make sure neither front one is binding, and of course tyre pressures.
