I quite like a mild stretch - Anything that reveals the bead of the tyre is too much IMO. If it's not a track car, then I can't see the issue. It's another 'personal preference' that I wonder why people got so worked up about!

Mine actually looks more stretched than it is because of the rim protectors. IIRC it's a 235/35 on a 9x19.

I know the owner of the van is on here and I respect that we are all different but to me it says everything that is wrong in the VW scene and seems like a tick box procedure of joining "the club"

Not too sure i agree with you on that one, if you visit a lot of the 'rat' scene people are doing the same thing. The caddy has no bolt on tat, it doesn't have a roof rack or stickers which seems to be what everyone else is doing. The only reason it has the rust is because it was there when i bought it.

Ive tried to apply some of the older themes to something a bit newer. Sign writing and patina look. I haven't seen any other caddy vans with wide arches or anything newer trying to sport a worn out older race team livery so don't really think its a copy of what everyone else is doing.

Anyways the topic is stretched tyres so should probably move on with that.
Feel free to discuss this in a separate thread though if you wish. The what is wrong with the VW scene or rat look or similar. I genuinely won't take offense at all as its interesting to hear different view points.

For me its nice to occasionally drive something that im not worried where i leave it, don't have to clean and worry about the winter weather. Everything else i own takes far too much looking after.

Mild stretch looks fine, wild stretch looks daft and is asking for trouble.

I'm going to be running 215/45/17s on some 9j steels The taller sidewall makes it look like less of a stretch than on lower profile tyre!

In all seriousness though. I think a bit of mild stretch can look ok on the right car. Mad stretch is just asking for trouble.

massive stretch looks retarded, i have slight stretch on the rear lensos for my 3 door they are 8.5j and have 215 40 17 on there, but the tyre is mounted in accordance to the manufacturers advice, they allow maximum rim width of 8.5 to mount on so its all legal

I think a little bit of stretch can look ok. But not a lot, and I hate ridiculous amounts of camber, a well built track car that has some negative camber of handling purposes looks cool, having 8 or 9 degrees of it on a ridiculously lowered car looks a bit naff.
