Default cossie fuel saga continues! pump and map sensor today..

I've been going through possible solutions and have come down to fuel pump, map sensor, injectors or chip..first two to try and get off the list...

1) FUEL PUMP - Bosch044 - have checked the flow at engine and its as should be at 4.4L / min, also checked voltage. Can I cross this off my list?

2) MAP sensor - correct 3bar sensor fitted, but checked and whilst input is correct at 5V, earth is fine, however signal voltage is less than it should be...should be 2.2V with ignition on...I've only got 1.52V...Replace?

Don't replace the map sensor. It's perfect.
2.2V with ignition on is for a 2-bar sensor, you have a 3-bar sensor.
Fuel flow is a little bit less than I expected - should be 5L / min.

Have you measured fuel pressure? Also with (simulated) turbo pressure?

thanks, I got the 4.4L / min figures from FSE website, but it also said this was at 3 bar. I've got a fuel pressure gauge on now and issue is fuel pressure not increasing inline with turbo pressure causing weak running / misfire. Have checked regulator and vacuum connections.

All I've done before to check the pump is to take the pipe from the fuel rail into a measuring jug, bypass the relay and time for 30 secs ..is this best way and does it take into account 'on demand'?

has the 044 pump got the CORRECT sized fitting kit/adapter to flow it correctly???

Alvyn,
Got the fittings with it when i bought the pump so i'm confident they're ok. FSE says 4.4L / min anyway she is spot on with what i'm getting...but whether its 4.4 or 5L / min should be loads more than a 300bhp cossie needs. Question is if there's another way to simulate on load setting other than pre-loading regulator?

Have tested the regulator by using a pump on the vacuum pipe.

Test drive the car on the open road or on a rolling road.
Have a fuel pressure gauge and a turbo pressure gauge connected.
What's the fuel pressure at engine off, key on - 3,5 bar?
The very briefly generate 1 bar of turbo boost - should give you 4,5 bar fuel pressure.
If the pressure is lower it's probably the regulator.

Sorted!!!!!

After spending countless hrs and buying 2 fuel regulators (one FSE one 2wd..now spares) turns out the oil leak round spark plugs 1&2 was causing the misfire and the reduction in fuel pressure was diagnosed as the cause, when it was in fact the effect!

Today i rigged the fuel pressure gauge so i could see it whilst driving (no bonnet on) and all seemed fine. Took plugs out to do a compression test and noticed ton of oil round plug 2 electrodude. Claenaed it up put some redex down to clear the piston...test drive ..job done!

Hrs of pain caused by an ill fitting rocker gasket which was 'professonally fitted' by a garage!

Glad you got it sorted anyway, things like this are so much harder to sort "remotely" than when there.
