Problems getting my Escort cosworth started
I'm having a few problems getting my project started.
Everything's new, Power and earths to everything.
When I stop cranking I get spark still popping even though I've stoped. What do I check?
And how do I check If my injectors are squirting?
Cheers Aaron

Did i understand that correctly? when the engine has stoped turing the plug is still sparking? for how long after?
as for checking the fuel the only thing i can think is to pull an injector out.

That doesn’t make sense to me at all regarding the sparking AFTER you stop turning the key….
However, do you have a mate than can help you out, and a voltmeter????
I know on a saph if you take out the sidelight bulb you can bend the terminal on the bulb ond fit it into the connector for the injector on the loom, when you turn it over the bulb should flash, that will tell you that the injectors are opening.
Then, I’d trace the wires for the fuel pump and check that they’re getting power (not 100% clued up on escorts but I believe the pump is in the tank so you can't just listen for it like on any other cos).
If that’s ok you can assume that it’s getting fuel into the engine, so that just leaves the spark issue, can you elaborate on that????

Cheers Chaps, that makes sence for checking the injectors. I've got in car pump and this is definalty working. I have fuel in the rail. just don't know if its making it to the inlet.
As for the spark.I've got spark whilst cranking. When I stop the spark will keep going for 10-20 seconds after the engine's stopped. You can hear spark clicking away inside the disi cap and see it on all the plugs

Well if you have spark thats one thing, not sure about it sparking when ignition stops sounds most strange, next check you are getting fuel. Rogs method seems quite good this will check the injectors "pulsing" however are you getting actual fuel to the injectors?

The coil is earthed on chassis as is the ignition amp, as is the loom on the inlet manifold.
So I can't see it being an earth problem unless theres one missing....
How many earths are on a 2wd loom?
There's definatly fuel in the injector rail. I've removed the feed and it's there.
Theres power pulsing on the injector plugs, but the spark plugs are dry...
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
