dowels for headbolts

Default dowels for headbolts

should there be 1 or 2 or any dowels on the back of the escos engine for locatting the headbolts when they are been fitted, my mate who is building the engine says there should be but i dont remember taking them out and i havent got them anywhere to be seen.
could the engine be built without them or would it cause problems ?
sorry for stupid question but if they are needed i better get some

when me and hugh were putting his head back on there wasnt any dowelsbut dont quote me on it being ok, as he cant get his to start

there are no dowels mate .... most engines have them but some some reason the yb. does not .... what there is ,, is 2 special alignment studs you screw into 2 bolt holes to keep every thing in place when fitting the head .. you then put the bolts in ,,, then remove the 2 studs and fit the last 2 remaining bolts ... hope this helps ... mark
