Default Mk2 fiesta carb turbo project * Nearly ready!*

Monday 9th April 2012

Hey, I just wanted to introduce my Ghia that I bought of Mini Flywheel in Early April 2012
Its a B-reg as im sure you can see with 59 and a bit K on the clocks, doesnt seem to have been welded up anywhere and is totally orriginal bar the xr2 steering wheel
And for the bufties on the forum it came with a sunroof bag, boot tidy, original radio & even has a boot realise (which isnt working at the minute)
Anyway heres some pics,,,

A big thatnks goes to Mini Flywheel for waiting so long for me to pick it up & a bigger thanks to my mate Jonny (mjonathan24) for heling me get this and picking it up 8)
There is a few minor bits that need sorting but im really happy with it, though at the minute its not starting so I need to sort that out on my 2 days off in the week

Thursady 19th April

So its still not being much of a daily due to a knackered starter
I ordered one from a local scrappy and they sent one from a rear stater box
so Isent that back and ordered a re-con unit from Online Automotive and they also set the wrong one so Im currently waiting for a phone call to get the right one sent or a refund
Heres a pic of old vs new

Ive got a k&n filter to go on still and I need to get some white paint so I can get the classics painted up

Friday 27 April

Ok so while im trying to sort out the non starting issue I though id start putting my time into de-blueing the classics and painting them white
So I started of keying the surfaces that im gonna be painting

And then layed on primer then once dryed gave that a rub and layed on some diamond white ( yes I know it looks cream in the pics)

Im still gonna polish the lips and faces and just have the inserts in white running 175/50 yoko a539s
I'll be getting tyres for these next month and get some coilovers the month after
I cant wait to scrape about it this

Tursday May 17

Ok, time for an update
So I took it to Fitp at the weekend and it really hit me that standard mk2s are so shit, especially when I was parked next to Zaks which was looking cool as fuck!

(pic taken by Mike)
so erm yeah this bitch is getting pimped :blub:
While im finishing off my classics and waiting for some coin to afford rubber to go on them Ive popped my 'pots on which already feel loads better than the original biscuit tin lids.

I slapped on my OMP steering wheel, and of course elmo...

At the minute I am looking at getting it sitting on its floor
And heres a pic of me & my dad representing on our street

Sunday June 10

Ok guys just a quickie
I took it to Classic ford show the other weekend.
The car behaved itself even messing about on the odd occasion
Well actually I did lose 2 wheel bolts somehow
Heres a vid of me on one of my runs, my fastest was a 20.4 @ 63mph which was on my last go
I really enjoyed it and im hoping to knock a second off the time at Retro show
Plans inbetween now and then are to fit my k&n, fixed bucket seats, get some lows on the go & to get some rubber for the classics.
Before I go I must say thanks to Cibo for letting me use your wheel brace :blub:

Friday June 22

This week ive been mainly wreaking my exhaust, fuck knows how but it sounds like a p.o.s though i do rev it if I drive by scallys :blub:

Ive got a replacement downpipe to go on tommorow though
I also got bored of seeing two Omps logos looking at me so i used some 3M carbon wrap ive got laying about and covered the centre section of my steering wheel

And now ive bought new front speakers
a cd player
a set of -50mm springs
a set of 165/55/13 pirelli tyres to go on my classics
and one of Alex's polybushed panhard rods
So it'll be a mad scramble to get everything sorted before next weekend as im off to retro show then
As per usual TTFN

Sat July 07

Quick update
I didnt manage to get everything sorted before retro show but it was still a good show and I still managed a few runs onthe strip
I met my mate Matt yesterday who lowered my car and popped the adjustable panhard rod on

Im so pleased with it for now but o do tgink a couple of coils need to come off at the front and one from each side at the rear
I still need to fit my cd player and get a front set of bushes as a few of mine are worn

Tuesday October 23

So after coming to conclusion that im too lazy to polish my rims I decided the week before ford fair to spray the whole lot white which i finished just before laving the saturday before the show-close call
Heres a pic of it sitting prettyish

I bought Jamies old Ashley system to slap on the 1.1 downpipe for some raspy goodness

The car had a good scrub behind the ears ready for a random photoshoot round lincoln thanks to a mates girlfriend
Im waiting on the rest but heres a teaser

Now for the main reason of this update...
So I made a trip to Milton Keynes last night and picked this naughty s2 rst lump up

Ive already got the intercooler so I thought i may aswell go turbo so I should have it in & running within a few months as I need to get a few bits still

Wednesday 26 December 2012

Update time
Soooo after having a chat with Mike about my engine the decision has been made to covert it to run an R5 carb setup and ditch the rubbish rst stuff
So Ive been collecting parts to get all this sorted but still have a way to go till I can drop this lump in
Hers the engine as it stands now, yeah ive just plonked the xr2 inlet on for now so I dont lose the thing

And heres some other bits ive added recently

I got these reproduction mk1 fiesta mirriors from Steve at Speedshack, theyre loads better than the elephant ears that mk2s come with

Also friday just gone I took it to see my mate Matt for its first mot since ive had the thing and I was pleased when it passed firts time as Ive never had a car do that
After the test he got to chopping the front springs a tad to bring the nose down, theres still plenty more lows to come but that'll come after the new engine is in

Ive also sold my old blue mk2 as I didnt have the time or space for 2 cars realistically

But the way ive see it ive done more to this one in less than a year than i ever did in the 5 yrs I owned the blue un so meh
Plus the white one will be a beast (or break and cost me a fortune :blub: )

So the engine got thrown in the other day along with the gearbox and cradle aswell as hooking up the linkage which was a faff but nothing a bit of cutting and drilling didn't sort.

I then put the dizzy and leads on then started to get exited and so I put the tubular manifold on, turbo and external wastegate on and trust me when I say its really tight in there now.

Well here's a few piccys of the other bits on the car so far...
I hacked out a bit of the front panel so the intercooler sits how I want it to without pipe touching or rubbing, also cut out underneath the bumper so its tucked up nicely

put the oil cooler on which I don't know where to put but for now it sits behind the front panel out the way

put my carb turbo fuel reg in place
Name: IMG_20130715_181904_zps05a0811f.jpg
Views: 167
Size: 108.9 KB
And got a big ramair filter which doesn't really fit cause the bonnet lever thing gets in the way so i'll probably end up using bonnet pins

Got a gauge holder, and plopped my boost gauge in, just need to sort an oil temp one and oil pressure one
