mk4 escort rst van, i need some advice (pics)
hello, wel i got this van about 3 years ago as an unfinished project, it needs the rst petrol tank fitting but first ill need to get the metal filler pipe bent, but the main problem is that nothing electrical works, wipers, lights, heater fan, is there a main ignition relay that might need changeing, ive checked all the fuses and they are ok,
the starter motor runs ok on the inition and have had it running, had to conect the fuel pump to a switch and have the fuel pipes running into a petrol can and it run very rich or not at all when i tried to make it run leaner, ill try the new injectors next time

mate i have to say that i'm loving the sig pic, the blue against the gold is really nice.
regarding your electrics, i think there are 2 main relays, white (fuel) and pink (ignition or was silver on s1) and it's the pink one that usually needs replacing.
if i were you i would sort out the tank, filler etc get it plumbed in properly then get it to run right, testing it with fuel pipes in petrol cans etc isn't gonna run right anyway
good luck with it mate looks cool

yipee, after all this time ive finaly got the electrics working, was a simple earth wire that i needed to connect by the battery, lights, fans, wipers, everything is working,
i need a new petrol filler pipe so i can mount the petrol tank, has anyone got one laying around, mine is too rusty inside, and ill have to get the pipe bent so it will line up with the s2 tank, any advise anyone?

just had the van running, and seams to be running on 3 cilinders, im hopeing its just a blocked injector, so has anyone got a pic of how to bridge the fuel pump relay to make it stay on? ill pop all the injectors out and put each into a bottle and push the paddle down,
or it could be a ring or a valve gone, when i get some oil ill do a compresion test, is the high and low limit 110/140?

update, i took all the injectors out and put them all in a bottle still connected to the fuel system and made the fuelpump run constantly, one of the injectors contantly run while the rest was off until i push the flap down, so i swapped the injector over to another output, so its not the injector its the output thats dodgy,
on that i swapped the fuel metering unit to the one i had on my old van, and guess what, there no fuel comming out the one output completly dry at the output iven if i push the padle all the way down so that the fuel blasts out the other injectors,
grrrrr any advise?

i managed to unblock the blockade from the metering unit, i undid the one bolt on the side that does nothing, then i let the fuel pump run for 10 seconds and that did the trick, its running the best its run so far but stil very very rich, ive turned the misture down but the battery is flat now and nearly no fuel left, i could do with getting the injectors cleaned somwhere as they arnt spraying an even mist
