regarding your electrics, i think there are 2 main relays, white (fuel) and pink (ignition or was silver on s1) and it's the pink one that usually needs replacing.
if i were you i would sort out the tank, filler etc get it plumbed in properly then get it to run right, testing it with fuel pipes in petrol cans etc isn't gonna run right anyway

thanks, the pic below shows a purpley coloured relay, is that the one, yes ill try to get the tank on, but is it easy to bend the pipe if i heat it up,
yes that was my old van after i edited it with a photoshop type software
