been there 2 times before and am doing it for the 3rd time now, and I'm just a hobbywelder, but I find it the worst thing to do, your luck is that its an escort, little more space to work than a fiesta

ive welded the outer arch on now just got to tac them both together now so its doubled skinned like it should be, luckally the welding is still coverded by the rear spat

Mate thas a decent looking repair has to be said. Have u used underseal there? If so what one?

the welding was bad untill i ground it off

Don't bother drilling a hole for the grommet, thas why it rusted to start with, the metal cap that was in there rusts and transfers it to the inner arch around the hole.

found some brand new adjustable rear torsion arms down wales last week so ive managed to put some of the back end to gether now at last

Ive done the same on mine adjustable tca's and 16i roll bar and cross memeber just needs aligning now, hopefully get sum negative camber then

Typical i could of done with a s1 for mine as the 16i hits the lower apron on the s1 kit. Any way top job keep up the gd work.

well the plans are put disc brakes all round the brackets are already on the rear. Hopefully when i come to underseal and paint under the front it wont need any more welding!
.s1 front anti rollbar .Change the 4speed box to my quafe box . then run it till the 1.6 gives up shouldnt take long cause i stopped putting the lead replacement in it now

i wouldnt say im restoring it i just want it to last another 24 years hopefully still with all its original pannels like its got , im just gona bring the power,brakes,and suspension up to date thanks

Nah you can waxoyl in there from inside the car. Take the inner quarter panel out, then slide a waxoyl tube down into the sill.

yeah true but it makes it easier to get rigt to the end with the waxoyl gun so u kno every where is covered
